Town Women Hit 12 to Progress in FA Cup
Sunday, 3rd Nov 2024 15:30

Ipswich Town Women romped into round two of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup after thrashing the MK Dons 12-0 in their first round tie at the Martello Ground in Felixstowe with new Jamaica full international Natasha Thomas netting five.

In addition to Thomas’s goals, Shauna Guyatt and Angela Addison netted two apiece, the latter two penalties, and Leah Mitchell, Sophie Peskett and Kyra Robertson grabbed one each.

The Blues, who beat the Dons 13-0 in the league last Sunday, got up and running in the opening minute, Thomas sweeping home from Guyatt’s cross.

It took until the 17th minute for Town to add their second, Peskett this time supplying Thomas, who flicked home.

On 19, it was 3-0, Addison netting from the penalty spot and only two minutes later she made it four via another spot-kick.

The fifth came in the 27th minute when Mitchell finished off a team move, then Peskett hit the sixth into the far corner of the net.

Guyatt completed the first-half scoring with Town’s seventh three minutes before the break.

And the summer signing from Crystal Palace got the second-half goalscoring going in the opening minute, tapping in from Thomas’s cross.

The ninth followed in the 48th minute, all-time top scorer and appearance-maker Thomas completing her hat-trick.

Robertson made it 10-0 two minutes later from a corner, then Thomas headed her fourth and Town’s 11th in the 78th minute.

And it was Thomas who would complete the scoring, flicking home her fifth of the afternoon and the Blues’ 12th of the game - and 25th in eight days against MK - in the 81st minute.

Town: Hartley, Mitchell (Wearing 61), Boswell (c), Garrad, Barker (Hughes 61), Robertson, Fleming (O’Brien 77), Peskett (Bryant 61), Guyatt, Addison (King 61), Thomas. Unused: Negri, Williams.

Excellent...job done..as expected but of course still needed doing.
Not sure when the draw is for the next round but the great thing is there are no teams entering from the higher echelons in it...and with only 4 or 5 teams that can hold a candle to us at our level..unless we are unlucky we should progress further still.

FFS …. Me and my big mouth, probably the worst draw we could have gotten after winning that match against MK
