Arsenal Youngster Joins Town
Monday, 10th Feb 2025 18:39

Arsenal youngster Jayden Adetiba has joined Town’s academy following his recent trial.

The Nigeria-born 15-year-old right-sided forward is being released by the Gunners this summer, having joined the North Londoners in 2018 after being spotted while playing in South Africa.

Earlier in his childhood he lived in Dubai and he played and scored for the UAE U16s in November against Mexico.

Adetiba, who is set to start as a scholar with the Blues in the summer, featured for the Town U18s in the recent 7-4 victory over Colchester United having previously spent time on trial with Bournemouth and Brentford.

Welcome Jayden, you've come to a great place to develop your football career.

Not sure I entirely agree with the above. We seem to be good at buying in young talent that has been mostly developed and making them even better, but for players in the academy we have a pretty poor development conversion rate - it’s the one thing I think we need to have a serious look at.

@dazza first rate followed by generations of stagnation results in being second rate. We've become a buying club, but it's clear steps are in place to revitalise

Gamechanger are not investing in the academy it's not their priority apparently. Anyone with outstanding ability will be snapped up by the big clubs anyway.

Linkboy13. How do you work that out? Gamechanger are behind everything MA does to invest and build short, mid and long term success, including setting up a top tier Academy. This latest signing and others recently of young players is all part of the plan to upgrade the academy thru to U21 level and ultimately feed the first team and/or create a financial pipeline. Investment, attracting higher potential talent, better coaches, better facilities all driven by bigger ambition.

Linkboy you’re talking rubbish plans are already in place to upgrade to category one youth set up which Evan’s should’ve done way back when he had the chance. Obviously the initial project isn’t get the first team up and running and bringing in young players like we have and improving them will only help to attract the kids as well. The only way we get to pick the best from around the country AND keep them is buy doing this until then cat 1 places can take out kids.
