Voting Open For Men's Player of the Year
Monday, 28th Apr 2025 14:18

Voting is now under way for the Supporters Club’s men’s Player of the Year award.

Last summer, skipper Sam Morsy carried off the gong, which was presented to him following the home game against Middlesbrough.

This year, following feedback that too many awards were being handed out when too few people were still at the ground, a new approach is being taken to their presentation.

“To keep voting open as long as possible, the awards ceremony will be held and recorded by the club at Playford Road as close as we can to the last game against West Ham,” the Supporters Club explains on its website.

“The winners of the men’s, women’s and academy awards, plus the Irene Davey Award from the family of our late patron, will then be shown at half-time and released on YouTube and Facebook simultaneously so that fans worldwide will all get the announcement together. TownTV will also carry the clip so it will be available to the widest audience possible.

“We hope this proves popular, the last two seasons’ feedback having highlighted the fact that only a few hundred ever get to see the awards pitchside before and after a game a month prior to season end.

“This way we hope to get past those points and make it available for everybody at the same time.”

Between Delap, Cajuste and O’Shea for me. I’d edge towards Cajuste

probably should've double checked the spelling on Cajuste's name

My pick is going to be Cajuste but I reckon its going to be a toss up between him and Delap. There are a few I would probably choose from as well besides them 2 including:
O'Shea (1st season, clicked really well and been a great vice captain)
Tuanzebe, Burgess or Wolfy (all have really handled the step up well and been solid in defence)
Szmodics (this one is an outside pick but another who clicked and started off well before his injuries)

LeightonBuzzardBlue Yes, thanks for that and apologies. Ive had a nightmare with Platform issues this year, 4 names disappeared between versions, access initially wasn't automatic and somehow I misspelt Jens' surname. My bad on the last one for sure so many thanks for the point out. Baz

If we voted for "Canuste" would we have to revote then or will the previous votes still count?

Very good Trevski, I promise you need to do nothing at all, i simply corrected the spelling. But I like your thinking, especially as your email address will only work once

When trying to decide my player of the season i tend to think of the player we would miss the most and that for me is Delap who has scored 45 percent of our goals in the Premier league which is a record for that league. Second place would be O'shea and third Cajuste. It always difficult for a goalkeeper to perform in a struggling team but Palmer has performed admirably.

Delap for me! He is the standout player of this miserable season and the player that we will all talk about i the years to come! It was an easy decision to make to be honest! Took about 2 seconds

Cajuste for me.
Delap has been good, but Cajuste has been awsome every time he has played. We need to try our best to sign him.

Cajuste for me has been best player, Delap has done well, Cam again when played looked like a rock if he was starting every week he would of had a shout, over all I'm so proud of all the boys they played there hearts out and weren't outclassed that often in the season,

Cajuste every time, although I suspect Delap will win just because of the weight of his goals. Cajuste glides round the pitch like the proper international that he is; it's kind of effortless and beautiful. And he scored goal of the season. As a side note, I don't really understand the love for O'Shea. Personally I think he has not lived up to the hype at all. I'd definitely have Burgess, probably Greaves and maybe even Woolfy ahead of him.

Churchmans it hasn't been a "miserable season" really. Obviously it is disappointing to finish where we have, but I for one have enjoyed the ride. We have been competitive in most games and it's been brilliant to go to some of the big grounds (occasionally in the wrong end!). Some of our signings have not worked out as we would have liked, and giving away 27 points from winning positions is a sin, but still, it's the pinnacle of the game and where we should all want to be. Let's hope we bounce back and make a better fist of it next time and put this one down to experience.

@Ivoihardy
Any need for that pathetic comment, leave the guy alone he is still an Ipswich Town player at the moment and still might be next season, going to boo him every time he puts the shirt on but applaud Davis for costing 2 goals then getting sent off for a malicious tackle out of spite.
Pathetic! And so are those for marking that uncalled for nonsense up!

Had we not had Liam Delap this season, we'd have been below Southampton!
He has been impressive, far better than we could have imagined, but the George Hurst injuries mean we probably didn't see him consistently do it throughout the season, as KM probably played him more minutes than he'd have liked.
Greaves started very well, but was poor after that initial injury, and is now looking like the player of those few weeks.
I really like Cajuste too, and hope we can persuade him to join ITFC permanently.
But for me, the man who has settled in well, improved throughout the season, performed at a consistent level even when others have fallen short, and showed the fight and desire and effort throughout our campaign (am not sure many others have), it has to be Dara O'Shea.
O'Shea has my vote!
