Ex-Blues Loanee Enciso Set For Surgery
Friday, 18th Jul 2025 09:43

Former Blues loanee Julio Enciso is set to undergo knee surgery, scuppering the Paraguayan’s expected move out of Brighton this summer.

The 21-year-old, who spent the second half of 2024/25 with Town, had been expected to leave the Seagulls on either a permanent or loan basis as he isn’t in manager Fabian Hurzeler’s plans for the campaign ahead, but he will now be sidelined for around three months.

Enciso missed almost a month of football during his time at Portman Road after suffering an injury to his left knee at Aston Villa, the same knee which now requires surgery and on which he has previously had two ops. A return to the Blues this summer wasn’t on the cards.

Town have, however, been linked with two other Brighton players, 19-year-old midfielder Malick Yalcouye, who is the subject of loan offers from Bundesliga sides Hoffenheim and Freiburg, and striker Evan Ferguson.

Republic of Ireland international Ferguson is a player Blues boss Kieran McKenna has liked for a while but the 20-year-old looks set to join AS Roma on loan with Fiorentina also believed to be keen along with AFC Bournemouth, while Town are also said to have shown interest.

Elsewhere, ex-Blues forward Byron Lawrence, the club’s second youngest first-team player when he made his debut aged 16 years and 47 days on the final day of 2011/12, has joined Mildenhall Town having been with Ipswich Wanderers last season.

Not trying to be a smart arse but I’m sure Lawrence was a midfielder?

Bad timing for Enciso. But maybe we can now get him on the cheap if Omari goes?

Baxterbasics with respect, his injury problems make him a high risk imo as good as he is.We have signed players in past with problems that reoccur and sideline them for weeks or months, it can be costly financially and in terms of results.Think we should move on ..

Then don't read the story. The headline is hardly misleading.

Well I enjoyed watching Enciso when he was fit. An exciting player. I have sympathy for any player when they are injured. It must be very frustrating.

@Andy32Cracknell - maybe you're thinking of Tom Lawrence?

I don't want to read comments from people complaining about not wanting to read stories.

In any case this article contains more than just info on poor Encisco's injury so I would argue it was worth a read anyway.

Because of his all action style he's always going to be an injury risk.

Any story is worth a read.

The amount of times I am looking online whilst at work to see if anything has happened on the transfer front is insane!

Bluesissy and del45 you don’t have to read and comment if you’re not interested, Phil and the team have at times very little to report on and I am thankful for the work they do in keeping us informed!

I would have him back in a heartbeat!

It was a fairly interesting 45 seconds of my time. I would have been happy to see him or Sarmiento come back.
