Town are close to agreeing a loan deal with Aston Villa for striker Tammy Abraham.
Another number nine is top of the Blues’ wishlist for the final days of the transfer window having targeted a number of experienced frontmen over the course of the summer but so far without success.
Sky Sports is reporting that the Blues are closing in on a loan deal for Abraham, who rejoined former loan side Villa for £18 million from Besiktas in January but looks to be on his way out of Villa Park with a deal having been agreed with Chelsea for Nicolas Jackson.
Since then the 28-year-old, who is 6ft 4in tall, has made four starts and 13 sub appearances, scoring three goals.
Abraham started his career with Chelsea, spending time on loan with Bristol City, Swansea and Villa, before moving to AS Roma on a permanent basis for £34 million in August 2021.
He spent 2024/25 on loan at AC Milan, then moved to Besiktas on loan in July, the South Londoner signing permanently in the January due to an option but then leaving for Villa only days later.
Abraham has been capped by England at full level 11 times, scoring three times, but most recently played for the Three Lions in 2022.
Meanwhile, Argentina midfielder Exequiel Palacios flew to England last night ahead of his medical and the completion of his move from Bayer Leverkusen, the clubs having agreed a deal earlier in the week.
