Town or Lincoln at Coventry in FA Cup Second Round
at 19:22:58

Not a great draw - I hate going to St Andrews, saw us win 3-0 there many years ago, but it's been miserable there mostly. And that's assuming we get past Lincoln.

Practice Makes Perfect For Garbutt
at 21:27:02

Garbutt is Quality. Love this article, its not often a player opens up about their practice routines, gives a great insight into his ambition and how he goes about doing it. I did think the freekick against Tranmere took a tiny deflection, but it was brilliantly struck and a great goal. With players this determined, the future looks bright.

Ipswich Town 0-0 Doncaster Rovers - Highlights

Wasn't at the game so only just seen the highlights. Norwood did nothing wrong with that strike, he controlled the ball superbly and did all the right things, was just a great reaction save.

Bury Expelled From EFL as Bolton Have 14 Days to Complete Takeover
at 12:47:03

For all the comments about Pro or Anti ME, I think this is something of a moot point at the present time.

Bury have gone out of business Ffrchissakes, and Bolton look like they are going to join them. God help any owner of a football club outside the elite 6, as you're damned if you do and damned if you don't (in terms of spending).

The real issue here in not about individual clubs and their balance between prudence and ambition. It is that the distribution of the gargantuan revenues in the game are completely skewed to a small minority of super rich clubs. The only way that ordinary football fans can change that is to vote with your TV subscriptions. Keep subscribing to BT Sport and SkySports, and nothing will change. If however hundreds of thousands of fans start cancelling their subscriptions then maybe the PL will sit up and listen. Anyone got a better idea?

Bolton Boss Departs Ahead of Town Visit
at 19:15:59

I feel desperately sorry for Bolton. They are a proper football club with a real history and proper fans, they deserve so much better than the dreadful mess that they have found themselves in. I'm not going Saturday, but hope we can show a bit of solidarity with them.
Football is all messed up, so much money in the top league, a trickle into the Championship and nothing at all below that. It is a sad indictment on the administrators of the game.

Downes: Pressure Affected Me Big Time

Hat off to you Flynn, the more people talk about mental health the better. You won't always put in MOTM performances, and maybe you will have some games where you make costly mistakes, or where you need to rest. It doesn't matter, you're one of us, and we fans are right behind you. Follow the Town, Up or Down.

Blues Linked With Alternative Bialkowski Swap
at 06:46:54

Interesting. Is the Nutall deal a loan or permanent? Good stats for the lad, and good age. But the Millwall deal has merit as well, it means we get a 6'4" striker and get Bart back in a year's time. If Norris's hamstring is nothing to worry about, that is a good deal. The striker we need is someone with a physical presence and aerial ability. At 6'0" Nutall is presumably not that type of striker. I'll put my trust in PL on this.

EFL Trophy Draw Next Friday
at 07:40:32

Am I the only one that feels a tinge of embarassment that we are in this competition? Hopefully it will give us a chance to win a cup game or two and may go some way to restoring our appetite for cup games, so may feel different once it starts, but I really hoped we would never be playing in this competition. How times change.

Norwood Aiming to Make Up for Lost Time
at 13:49:39

@Midastouch yes, I have really enjoyed the first half of Soccernomics, then my son nicked it and took it away to Uni, so I have just got it back and am looking forwards to the 2nd half. It is very readable and understandable by lay readers (unlike Soccermatics which requires a good understanding of maths to make sense). Soccernomics actually highlights a number of measures (derived from the wealth of stats that are available) that can be used to improve a team's performance. According to the book, pretty much every successful club employs anything from one to a team of stattos to analyse things, form which way to hit a pen, to where to deliver corners, positional play, wages, you name it. A good read and vert thought provoking, I hope Lambo has read it.

Anyone read Soccernomics? The greatest correlation with success is not the fee paid, it is the wages. Basically, you have to pay higher wages to attract the best players. Hat off to ME, he has stretched the wage budget to get Norwood, who seems very hungry and wants to impress in this league and the next. Great signing, now lets look at defence. .
