 | Forum Thread | Sh1thousery and anti-football - surely something needs to be done? at 06:34 14 Sep 2025
The levels of sh1thousery seem to be reaching unprecedented levels. The Derby match 2 weeks ago was probably the worst, most unenjoyable match I've been to. If football is going this way, tens of thousands maybe more will just get fed up and stop going. A 5-6 hour round trip and all the sacrifices you make to support your team, to have a horrible experience of no entertainment, just cheating and play acting, it just doesn't add up. (yes I know we did a bit of it last year with Chappers sitting down at various intervals). McK has said on a few occasions about ball in play time, i.e. matches requiring e.g. 60 mins of ball in play. Other alternatives that like rugby, the trainer can come on the pitch to attend to a player whilst the match continues. Or retrospective match analysis and sanctions against players deemed to have been feigning injury. Any other ideas? |

Has Jaden said he hates the scum? He doesn't strike me as a hateful person. |

Hirst had a great pre season and really wanted that #9 shirt, got his Scotland call-up and was full of confidence. But there is really fierce competition, and I think he's had enough chances, now he needs to drop to the bench to give Azon and Akpom a shot at starting and Hirst will need to do something great when he comes off the bench to battle to regain the staring berth. |

I may well have had my skin saved by you, or at least one of your colleagues. Home game v Arsenal in August 1974 I went into the NS on my own as a 13 year old, shortly before kick off. There had been a lot of trouble pre-match, and the police had taken the decision to escort all the Ipswich fans up the side of the pitch to Churchmans. However, a sprinkling of Ipswich fans, including me, were still making their way in to the NS. Just before half time, and Town scored our 3rd goal. Cue the Arsenal fans to run rampage assaulting anyone with a blue scarf. My silk scarf was tied round my wrist, got grabbed by an Arsenal fan, I yanked my arm free and scarpered under the NS along the concourse, pursued by 4 Arsenal hooligans, only to get to the locked iron bar gate between NS and West Stand. I turned, looking at the Arsenal fans running at me, only to see them stop suddenly and retreat. At that moment, you or one of your colleagues walked across on the opposite side of the gate, and asked if I was alright. He kindly got the gate unlocked and let me pass through to safety. Those were the days. |

I really wanted us to keep Omari, and was gutted to see the way it all ended. But I have to hand it to KMcK and Ashton. Having lost Omari, the player they've brought in as a replacement looks an even better prospect. Omari has amazing skill, but lacks the physicality and it was very evident in the Prem, how many time he just got bullied off the ball. Egeli is a much bigger physical specimen, and looks like he has similar skill levels to Omari, but will just be able to stay on his feet more. A superb piece of business, can't wait to see this young man develop under McKenna. |

for all the riches we have and multi million pound players in so may areas, we don't have a single keeper that is decent. Nothing would please me more than to see a good keeper come in on deadline day. |

I too applaud Jack Clarke for stepping up to take the pen - it was a high pressure pen and he took it really well. That said I thought he was very poor yet again today. He is just soooo predictable. Abssolutely every time he gets the ball he does the same thing cut in, runs across from left to right across the penalty area and just runs in to traffic because every opponent knows precisely what he does. So the ball then gets either laid off to whoever is further out right, or he just runs into someone and loses possession. Its boring and inevitable, it's one trick pony stuff, and it's been found out. What's happened to the Jack Clarke we heard about who like to have the chalk on his boots? No one goes down the wings any more. Leif seems afraid to go wide and cross, is he still hurting from the criticisms of Danny Murphy? The bravery McKenna spoke about during our double promotions is missing now, we need to stretch teams down the wings and then cross or cut it back for the central players. Why is McKenna playing it so conservative now? |

When I was in my 30s, and we were playing at home to Arsenal in the Prem, me and my missus were staying with friends in Norwich. It was a lovely sunny day and I wore my Ipswich replica top and walked though the city centre to the station to get the train to the game. I got dogs abuse from a few six fingered locals. I will take that to my grave. My how I would now love to repeat that, but with Nunez 32 on the back. [Post edited 30 Aug 14:04]

 | Forum Reply | Derby is massive for Clarke and Philogene at 06:13 30 Aug 2025
The competition for starting is now intense - Town have a stronger overall squad now than any time in our history. So the pressure is on all players to earn the right to start. I think Philogene has shown already that he is willing to work hard, but Clarke has just not been effective. Whether it's bad luck, whether he is being told to play in that way or whether he just isn't quite on form I don't know, but as you say, this match v Derby is crucial for him especially. Anyone who doesn't shine might not even make the subs bench next time out. |

Yes!! Get in there. He just looks the real deal, the jewel of our summer recruitment. Thank you Mark Ashton and all the recruitment team to get this done. Huge fee, my guess is that the bigger fee means a lower % sell-on clause. Which for someone so young with huge potential is more important than a couple more million on the initial price. |
 | Forum Thread | Dizzy with the new signings at 06:11 29 Aug 2025
I just don't recognize so much of the team any more - just how on earth does KMcK get all these players to gel together as a team? We have some amazing individual talent in this squad, with really strong back up (and hopefully Walle Egeli yet to join) . This is really going to make or break McKenna, hopefully the former. If he can get 3 pts v Derby and then we return after the break with a team that can play with that telepathy we saw in the double promotions then we'll be unstoppable. But it is a big challenge, and we can't allow a couple of months for it to come together. |

because the transfer window is set up such that the biggest clubs can leave it to the last minute and the trickle down of available players for the smaller clubs can't happen until the big fish have had their fill and spat out the rest. |

Presumably the delay is over how the deal is structured. FCN will see that he has huge potential and will want a big % of any sell-on profits. But they will also be demanding a big fee. Which is having your cake and eating it. We either need to pay them a big fee and little sell-on i.e. ITFC take all the risk and reward, or a smaller fee with a bigger sell-on so that the risk and reward is shared. Everyone in football these days wants a bigger slice of the pie than they deserve. |
