Given the Clubs stated aim of signing higher calibre players with one eye on the PL, my guess is that those deals are just proving harder to do. Having said that we don’t want to end up in the position of scrabbling around at the end of the window because we pursued deals that didn’t come off for too long. It’s a tricky balancing act and too early to judge whether we’ve got it right or not yet! |

I do wonder whether this being drawn out as long as it has been may be stopping us from pursuing other deals for midfielders. It did look as if it he had finally moved on but maybe not? We clearly want Cajuste but how much longer do we give it before making moves elsewhere? |

If he was one we were definitely interested in ( I know it was reported we were but who really knows!) disappointing to lose out to Stoke. |

I’m glad he still can run around like that! |

Home shirt is fine, away one not for me but each to their own! |

I don’t know about excuses but given the level of players we are supposed to be aiming for the deals are going to be harder to do. I think there will be an element of that type of player, and their clubs, waiting to see if better offers come in. The Chelsea striker we are interested in looks to be a classic example. It’s reported Chelsea won’t make a decision on what they want to do with him until they come back from the cup competition they are in. If they make the final that could be as late as mid July! We are not the only club looking at him so this could drag on even longer than that. The obvious problem with this sort of scenario is of course that if we can’t get a deal done it doesn’t give us very long to move on to plan B and if we can get the deal done there isn’t much time to integrate the player into the squad before the season starts. |

Agree about AAH. The club have moved on too quickly for him. From what I remember it was reported the club were happy for him to move permanently before he went on loan to Stoke in January. |

Is it just me who really isn’t bothered? The Academy has produced very little for years and whilst Evans disinterest in it was undoubtedly the major factor Klug clearly went along with basically treading water. With Cat1 on the horizon time for a fresh start. |

I don’t think it has any implications for North Korea, they already have nuclear weapons and the means to deliver them! Allowing a regime like that to obtain the bomb was a mistake from a US perspective, which they clearly don’t intend to repeat. |

 | Forum Reply | Casey report on grooming gangs at 13:15 17 Jun 2025
That pretty much describes a cover up to me but, whatever we call it, it’s an absolute disgrace, and heads need to roll. Not just the low hanging fruit either, there is no way this was allowed to happen without significant ‘top cover’! |
 | Forum Reply | Casey report on grooming gangs at 11:48 17 Jun 2025
Maybe cover up is the wrong phrase but I’m not quite sure what else to call the political establishments wilful disregard of what has been reported for years and, worse than that, labelling anyone who dared to raise the subject bigoted, racist and far right! Now, undoubtedly some were, but there was clearly enough evidence to show there was/is a big problem and Casey makes reference to it being deliberately ignored. Politicians, police, local councils, all involved in what was/is effectively facilitating child abuse should be the subject of criminal prosecutions, as well as any perpetrators who have escaped prosecution up to now. As for another public enquiry, the record for these isn’t great, but on this subject I think the genie is finally out of the bottle and we might, finally, get to the root of it. Having said that it very much depends on the terms of reference and who is appointed to run it. I can see a case for bringing in someone from abroad, unconnected with our compromised establishment, but time will tell on that. |

On the face of it there isn’t much in this report which hasn’t been alleged by the victims and their supporters for a decade and more. For politicians of whatever persuasion to pretend this is all new to them and they’ve only just realised the scale of what was happening is disingenuous to say the least. Both Labour and the Conservatives are complicit in what looks like a massive establishment cover up and Baroness Casey is pretty clear as to what she thinks the reasons for this are! |

If he stayed here he was going to play second fiddle to Greaves. I’m surprised he’s gone to Swansea but it may be they offered regular first team football and nobody else did. |
