Ipswich Town v Morecambe Your Report added at 12:54:47
Evans and Harper looked good in central midfield. Once they get used to each other I’d be surprised if there is a better pairing in League 1.

Penney was better than I expected but the final ball often didn’t come after good approach play. His pass to Woolfenden that led to the goal wasn’t great but if Woolfenden had just put his boot through the ball into the stand, rather than trying to be too clever, it wouldn’t have been a problem!

Overall there was some good football and some dire football on show. The team at times looked like the bunch of strangers to each other that they are but occasionally showed what they will be capable of once they gel.

Should have had the game won by half time but didn’t take our chances. Milwall changed it at half time and bullied us onto the back foot. Individual errors then cost us dear!

We are not getting out of this. Sad times!

Overheard someone describe the game as 'tedious' as I left the ground and I think that sums it up perfectly!

Too many players playing out of position, Chambers , Sears, and a lack of quality is really hurting us at the moment. Every team that comes to Portman Road attacks with pace and speed whilst our attacks are so ponderously slow, that is if the ball has not been lumped aimlessly forward to be mopped up by the opposition centre halfs.

Its just not working for us at the moment.

Sears looked very good and deserved his goals. Bru much improved on his performance Saturday.

Defensively not great. We got away with a couple after scoring the first goal and a better team than Birmingham would have made us pay! Still too much hoofball for my liking and our failure to keep possession hurts us badly.

Still, three points and something to work on for Sunday. Will need to defend much better than last night though to get anything from that game.

In all honesty a forgettable match in which too many Town players had off days.

Chambers at right back is an on going weakness which costs us at times and yesterday was one of those times. Our four man midfield was overwhelmed by Derbys five for large parts of the match resulting in too much aimless hoof ball that only succeeded in giving possession back to Derby.

Quite how Hyam was on the pitch for 90 minutes I do not know. His distribution was awful, as usual, and he was poor defensively as well. I know he is 'one of our own' and can't do any wrong in some people's eyes but I just don't rate him. In the absence of Skuse give me Bru any day ahead of Hyam.

Overall a bad day at the office but having said that Derby could only score from a gift courtesy of a strangely out of sorts Smith so on another day we might have got away with it.

Our fantastic run had to come to an end at some point so let's put yesterday behind us and start another one!

Substitutions did not cost us today, we were second best for the whole match imho.

MM got his tactics wrong today and didn't react at all! We were overrun in midfield from the off and Chambers at right back has never worked so why would it work this time?

How we went 2-0 up in the first place is beyond me and we were very lucky to come away with a point.

Poor first half, some good approach play at times but the final ball was sadly lacking. Second half better but nothing special. Once we got our noses in front we seemed to sit back and invite Yeovil to attack us which could have ended badly!

To me we are lacking something in central midfield. Hyam isn't playing well and is far too defensive in his outlook, how many of his passes actually went forward last night rather than sideways or backwards? I know being a defensive midfielder is Hyams game but Skuse is the same and he is much better at it in my view. I would be looking to drop Hyam for a while at least.

Not sure about Murphy in that he came on against Boro on Saturday and changed the game, whilst last night he was very ordinary.

Having said that 6 points out of 6 is as good as it gets so can't complain too much!

Solid performance against a poor Millwall side who will struggle this season on the evidence of today. Apart from the first ten to fifteen minutes of the second half we had the upper hand and deserved the win. Skuse looks a very good buy and he and Hyam work well together in central midfield. Cresswells return illustrated just how important he is to the side. The only downside, for me at least, was the failure of our strikers to find the net again.

We gave Hull far too much respect in the first half in my view, once we got stuck into them in the second they began to look very ordinary. In fact once we equalised I thought we would go on to win the game and it was a shame some sloppy defending handed the match to Hull on a plate. Having said that our defence has been magnificent of late so its hard to be too critical.

We also missed McGoldrick's hold up play badly. He doesnt have much pace but he holds the ball up well and brings others into the play and we dont have anyone else capable of doing that currently. Chopra was getting a lot of stick from some fans but lobbing high balls up to him from the back is not his game, a fact I thought we had established whilst Jewell was here! Midfield wise I'm still not convinced about N'Daw. To me he is a shadow of the player he was when first joining us and I dont think playing him with Hyam really works because they are very similar in style.

On balance a draw would have been a fairer result but we got away with daylight robbery at Derby last week so these things even out over a season.

Well the sending off certainly changed the game because our midfield were chasing shadows until then.

Once they were down to ten men I thought we did a good job on them but lets not carried away by this performance overall. On another day the result could have been very different!

Another welcome three points!!

I thought Drury had a good first half although like the rest of the midfield he faded in the second. He certainly found a blue shirt more regularly than N'Daw has in recent games!

Bolton had plenty of possession in the second half bbbut frankly Henderson didnt have a save to make. It was not pretty at times but we got three points and in our position thats all that counts at the moment.

Once again our midfield was poor. Martin and Edwards offered little and N'Daw just kept giving the ball away.
I really don't know what has happened to N'Daw because he is a shadow of the player he was earlier in the season.

Having said that I thought part of the problem last night was that we showed Watford too much respect in the first half. Yes they are a very good side but at times we just stood back and watched them play!

For the third home game in a row our midfield never turned up!

The defence looked poor because they were under constant pressure, since we had no midfield, and service to our front two consisted of lumping up high hopefully balls to them. A better team than Barnsley would have destroyed us today.

Our defence is progressing and we have a big choice of strikers but our midfield is woeful, at least at home. Cant see Edwards or Martin getting new contracts on their showing today.

Same problem as the Bristol City game, our midfield didnt turn up as a unit with the result that Brighton had control for the majority of the match.

The referee was abysmal but he wasnt the reason we lost this one, we did that for ourselves. We seem to struggle against teams who pack their midfield against us and MM needs to find an answer to this asap!

We were overrun in midfield, simple as that.

Martin was very poor and NDaw had the worst game I've seen him play. Add to that Edwards was largely anonymous, in the first half at least, and we were lucky to get a point IMHO.

Overall a disappointing reminder that we are a very average side and are still very much involved in a relegation battle. On the plus side we would probably have lost this one under Jewell.

Shockingly poor first half IMHO. We just did not look interested and a better team than Peterborough would have taken full advantage of our lacklustre performance. No shots on target and not even one corner, for the home side, tells its own story! Defence was poor in the build up to Peterborough's goal.

Second half was better but it would have been hard to be worse. Orr improved after an initially poor home debut whilst Campbell and Chopra worked hard but received very little quality service.

I'd say we were lucky today because Peterborough were the better side overall and at times seemed to want it more. Given our situation thats not good!

Scotland was MOM by a mile. Chambers did ok as did Ellington when he came on. The rest should be ashamed to pick up their wages this week.

Jewell clueless once again and to me his body language shows a man who has no idea what to do about the shambles unfolding in front of him.

Just go Jewell, for your own sake as well as ours!

We cannot score and we cannot defend and there is only one way that is going to end!

I have no confidence in Jewell to get us out of this and he should be removed immediately. Problem is when it comes to appointing managers Evans record is pretty poor and I have no confidence in hime either.

Sindre - if only this were a one off under Jewell but remembr 7-1 against Peterborough, 5-1 against Norwich, 5-2 against Southampton? There's a pattern emerging here but only Jewell seems unable to see it!

Same old problems unfortunately.
