Chambers: We'll Be Seen as a Scalp in League One
at 14:38:26

At present, I think any League One club will view as a potential 3 points rather than a scalp.

Relegation was not even a close call and we've won just two games in 2019. Yes, there is positivity, the playing style is better and the harmony around ITFC seems better on and off the pitch, but until we sort out all the things that got us relegated, we're way off getting promoted from League One.

I'm all for remaining positive but talk of promotion before the basics get sorted is madness.

Downes, Dozzell, Roberts, Kenlock and Rowe in U23s Facing Birmingham
at 11:44:36

Really hope Dozzell has a good 90 minutes as Sunday showed that Edwards deserves another creative midfielder to help him out, just so he's not carrying that load alone.

Dozzell and Walters linking up in the same team could do some serious damage.

Thanks for the very kind comments everyone. Much appreciated.

Commuterblue...I've always thought leather ones would probably work best but can't bring myself to wear them before I'm at least 70 years old.

Skuse: Derby Win Could Spark Play-Off Push
at 17:46:09

I'm a dreamer but we're currently 200/1 to get promoted and performing like we're lucky we had a good start to the season.

I admire the words but they're empty ones and only fool would think we are anywhere near good enough to hit the top six before the end of the season.

McCarthy: I'll Finish My Contract and See What Happens
at 16:57:38

MVBlue...

5th in the Premiership was outstanding and thoroughly enjoyable. But that's one season out of nearly 40.

I could respond in capitals but that makes a poster look a bit weird.

McCarthy: I'll Finish My Contract and See What Happens
at 15:37:15

People will get wound up by the content of this article but realistically what else is MM going to say in this situation?

"It's a fair cop! I've not really taken the club any further forward but managed the budgets well. The football isn't easy on the eye and most people see my tactics as outdated, so I'll be off in the summer and the players can stop giving a toss now."

Of course not. I'm not a huge fan of his now. I feel like we've become like NASA and their space explorations. Like NASA, whi had a chance to shoot for Mars but settled with creating the space shuttle, we constantly go for the safest option and the dullest. Nothing has really happened since the moon landings in 1969. And nothing really has happened at PR since the eighties.

MM is just part of that wheel that keeps turning.

Is that the teamsheet for Saturday? Ten at the back lumping the ball up to McCarthy?

Could work.

Hmmmm, I dunno battyblue, I think Marriot Plonker was overrated and, at a guess, his shirt sales would have been really disappointing.

Kieron: One of Suffolk's Greatest Talents, Ill-Served by Dire Headlines
at 14:03:09

Excellent blog Superfranz, it's really good to hear the other side of a story told.

Dyer was one of those players who, just because of his talents alone, would make you buy a match ticket every Saturday. He would find passes or create opportunities that not only the opposition defence wouldn't predict, but the 22,000 in Portman Road wouldn't spot either until it resulted in a goal. When you watch Ipswich teams who have run out of ideas in matches, that's when you find yourself turning to your mate and saying "We need a Kieron".

I met him in a pub in Ipswich the night we had failed in the playoffs again. Spotting a group of half a dozen of us out in Town shirts, he came over and bought us all he drink because he wanted to say "Sorry, we didn't do it for you". We all felt more sorry for him that his talents weren't going up to a bigger a stage. There aren't many that would do that under the circumstances...

Stretchyboy...That's a sad tale you tell, but I'm glad you're out the other side.
When I wrote the sentence "If you’re sensible, lucky and limit yourself to just one addiction then what can possibly go wrong? " I had hoped the stupidity of what it was saying would be transparent enough and that nobody would take it literally.
I think comparing gambling to crack is putting the 'stretch' into stretchyboy. One is illegal, the other is not. I agree that there are too many ways people can waste their money on gambling...I think bingo sites are evil and pray on the uneducated and vulnerable.
This is intended to be a light-hearted piece, it is not an instruction to go out and fritter your money on my unreliable predictions.

Just place. They don't have to be 14 points ahead...the 14 points is just added to the final points total and if they come in the top four (after all the other teams have had their handicap points added too) then you're a winner!

Thanks for the comments guys.

TR11BLU....pre season tips...Town are 18/1 to finish in the top 4 (if you go each way) with a handicap of +14 points. You'll get a quarter of the odds for each way but with 14 points added to our final total I think we could be up there.
Swansea have been given a +34 points in the Premier League at 15/1. Again I would go each way.
Lukaku is 25/1 to be top scorer in the Prem. With a decent run in the Chelsea team I think he is also worth an each way bet.
The opening day of the season is usually loaded with draws as teams settle down but don't want to get off to a losing start. I've always made a decent amount of money betting on a couple of yankees or trixies of draws on the opening day. I'll stick one up here later this week.

Ivorfeeling...I've a feeling that the first 4-1 win will come at home to Millwall.
