Maybe the Prem fat cats could do something radical and share round their income and pay to keep the skinny cats of League 1 and 2 alive?

His CV suggests that his legendary status would be seriously dented if he ever took over. He’s not been a good manager.

Damn, I hadn’t realized we’d need liras for Spain, francs for France or marks for Germany. I assumed we’d just use the Euro, like we do now.

And I hadn’t realized they were going to reintroduce internal checks and every national border just for us Brits if we went for Brexit.

Going to be a real pain and I’m going to France later this year. Any suggestions where I can get the best £ to Franc rates?

Interesting thread.

Seems like most blame the Tories and their policies for the rise in food banks.

Germany has a stronger economy than ours, and had a very different response to the financial crisis in the early 2010’s - but has as many food banks as we do.

I know that Germany has a 25% higher population than ours, but it suggests that the problem isn’t just in the UK and isn’t just the fault of the Tories. It seems a much wider 1st world problem.

Only Cov can overtake us. Sunderland and Pompy will still be a point behind.

’Suffering at the hands ...’ makes it sound like it’s the NHS fault to me. That’s all.

NHS isn’t perfect and don’t help themselves with unions that resist change, but most staff go above and beyond in helping people, and definantely not to cause more suffering.

But cannot believe how opinions of the team Lambert have changed so dramatically and with such vitriol. Last time I was on the cons census was that we had a really good squad, way to good for the rest of the peasants in this league. Now we’re really poor, worse than last year and Lambert’s doesn’t have a clue.

All seems a little dramatic to me.

Freaky to watch. Reminded me of war of the worlds when the capsules kept coming. ‘And still they come’ as Jeff Wayne sang in War of the Worlds.

Are you sure Guthers? Tories were in power until 1997 (iirc) and though they took us through recession pretty much everyone agreed at the time that they left Labour an economy that was well on the way to recovery and about to thrive again. Yet when Labour were voted out in 2010 we we pretty much scraping the barrel again.

Financial cycles and world wide r3cession didn’t help, but I’m not sure they had prepared much for the bad times which everyone knows happens.

Agreed, but I don’t ever remember Labour handling the finances well. That may not stack up scientifically but in my over 50 years of following politics the overall impression I have is that financially things tend to get worse under Labour and tend to be better for longer under the Tories. It feels like the Tories always have to clear up the financial mess left by Labour policies without it ever being the other way round.
