When will Phil put up the following headline today?
at 08:42 1 Sep 2022

“Quiet transfer deadline day expected at Portman Road”…. A staple favourite of the Evans years!

Seems unlikely given the speculation and recent transfer activity but maybe we’ll settle for what we’ve got already.

I didn’t mean to down vote this and now can’t work out how to reverse it. I’m not some niche Graham Harbey fan…. I remember him, he was bloody awful!

Hardest you've ever celebrated a town goal?
at 07:56 25 Aug 2022

Shaky Milton away at Barnsley in 1996. 85 mins gone 3-0 down. Five mins later thanks to two “Ian, IAN Marshall” goals and Shaky it finished 3-3.

That and Reuser at Wembley.

Anyone ever get heart palpitations?

Are you sufficiently hydrated? I suffer from them really badly if it’s warm/I’m dehydrated and if I then do exercise. I now know the circumstances that set them off.

Why do none of our managers use the League Cup to gel the team?

You are probably right…. I can’t remember the exact details as they get lost in the decade of gloom!

So we never play the First XI in a cup tie? What’s the point in entering?

I just don’t get why all of our recent managers make wholesale changes for the First Round of the EFL Cup. Surely it’s the perfect opportunity to start with a strong XI, work on partnerships/patterns of play against weakened opposition?

Our League Cup record since the Priskin semi is awful. Shouldn’t be too much to ask that we gave it a good go occasionally?

Morsy - absolute marmite
at 13:50 7 Aug 2022

Not sure anywhere on web/social media is the right place for nuance and I’ve learnt my lesson!

It feels a bit like if you don’t 100% think [insert ITFC player or Manager] is the best thing since sliced bread then you don’t know anything about football/aren’t a “true” Town fan - but this only applies when we’ve won or are doing well.

The reverse happens if we’ve struggling. To defend a Town player/Manager results in similar “you know nothing about football” feedback.

For the record Morsy played really well yesterday. And yes, his approach is probably what is needed at times in L1. I hope we keep up the solid start and he maintains his Egyptian King status all season long…… but I shall have a little smile to myself* if he attracts criticism for disciplinary record on this forum later in the season.

*This does not mean I will be happy if our skipper is banned!

Yes, you are quite right. I’m no longer a Town fan. Hope life remains nice and straightforward for you and you never have to face a scenario where your loyalties are tested.

Blackburn Rovers fans despise Morsy - that took about 2 mins research.

I’m not saying he isn’t a good player. I think he performs a vital role just that he is pretty cynical at times.

I thought he played well. He looked like a great player…. Just well versed in the “dark arts” of game management.

Morsy - absolute marmite
at 07:59 7 Aug 2022

Hands up, I don’t see Town often (2/3 times a year) and (due to geography) I’m now a season ticket holder at Forest Green.

Yesterday was a very strange experience for me. Not sure I enjoyed it!

It was also the first time I recall seeing Sam Morsy play. Is he like that every week? Every tackle he left something on this opponent, niggly, horrible player. But then he pulls out a piece of sublime craft for his goal.

For those that are old enough he reminded me (not in terms of position, in terms of attitude) of the likes of Paul Dickov or David Speedie.

I’d imagine the majority of ITFC fans love him but away fans leave every game despising him? Is that fair?

Huge change happening up the road

I’m surprised they didn’t incorporate their club motto “ Satis est participare”* into the new design.

*For anyone without a working knowledge of Latin “To participate is enough.”

TWTD crowdsourcing project: Vegan Cheese
at 08:08 8 Apr 2022

Assuming Forest Green Rovers get promoted, I think some people on this thread will thoroughly enjoy making an overnight trip to the Stroud/Nailsworth area. Putting aside the fact that the away end at the New Lawn (bring a coat, it’s open air) faces electronic advertising boards displaying climate emergency facts, there’s the Saturday morning Farmer’s Market in Stroud. Very high vegan presence, very high eco warrior presence, lots of CBD products, lots of people wearing things they’ve knitted themselves. Every other stall has the word Artisan in its name. You can spend £7 on a loaf…. You get the picture!
