Merry Christmas From TWTD
I see you haven't let MarkTWTD or Support extend season's greetings.
A very Merry Christmas to you, Phil. Also to you Gav.
But most of all to Mark and Support. #therealheroes.
Train Company to Provide Buses
This will be as nightmarish as the Carling Cup semi-final against Arsenal.
Realising the number of passengers after the match had started, the rail company arranged buses to "replace" the 22:19 service to Bury St Edmunds. I put replace in quotes because rail staff at Ipswich station lied - whether under instruction or not is irrelevant - to their customers. They said the train had been cancelled. It hadn't. They just didn't want an train that they couldn't or wouldn't find an additional carriage for full of football supporters.
Finding the correct coach to board was a nightmare. When I eventually found a coach that would be stopping at the intermediate stations to Bury (I travel to Thurston), the coach driver told me he didn't know how to find Needham Market, Elmswell or Thurston stations. I actually had to sit there and give him directions.
I finally got to Thurston station an hour late. My 100% compensation for this one hour delay was £1.00 as I had a matchday rail season ticket. My request for £50 for an hour's work giving the coach driver directions was of course ignored.
It won't be any better this time. Abellio are just trying to back-pedal on their appalling customer service.
Town Clarify Direct Debit Opt Out
I was about to sign up to be an academy sponsor. But that was going to be MY decision.
Now I'm going to opt out of having this automatically added to my season ticket cost.
This is, however you try to dress it up, one step away from theft and a blatant abuse of the direct debit system.
Britannia Stand Co-opted
It's outrageous. We should be getting people like Ferrari or Sony to be our stand sponsors. Clegg can't get anything right.
Fortunately for Carlos, they appear not to have pursued the issue of his invalid licence. There's reason to suppose he was driving on an invalid licence (and therefore with invalid insurance) for several years.
Think you were being rather naive or disingenuous about "Ultras" to be honest.
Shop at Tesco - that's the answer. The "TES" bit of Tesco refers to one of the original suppliers to the firm - a Mr STOCKWELL!
Police Message Ahead of Leeds Game
Leeds to Ipwsich by train doesn't involve Liverpool Street. Change at Peterborough and (depending on which train you from there) Cambridge.
Bad news for those travelling on the Cambridge to Ipswich line.
Memories of Mariner
I was lucky enough to see his debut at Old Trafford in a 1-0 win for Town.
One of the last matches I personally saw him in was hitting the winner at Wembley to get England to the 1982 World Cup Finals.
Inbetween those two incidents I once saw him buying petrol in Bury St Edmunds (the garage on Newmarket Road opposite the old barracks).
