If only it easc149,000 other stories but those circumstances go beyond those poor souls and family members who died to the disease. My grandmother died a non-COVID lonely death in a hospice without family beside her because we obeyed the f**King rules. I cannot grieve for her because the pandemic is going on and her death and the pandemic are intrinsically linked, and the circumstances were bloody traumatic. But we stuck to the rules. And like Mullet, as a social worker if I in any way attended an alcohol fuelled party in my public service role, I'd be sacked and lose my registration. How an alcohol gathering in a garden can in any way be used as an excuse for work circumstances from public servants is beyond me. Nobody is sorry, they are just sorry they've been caught. |

Plenty of similar and smaller sized clubs than us can be successful in the modern era- Brentford, Bournemouth, Burnley, Brighton all spring immediately to mind. The difference is, they've been well run top to bottom consistently. We've been woefully run |
 | Forum Thread | Make no mistake, this shower is why Cook was sacked. at 23:14 15 Dec 2021
His squad, coached to his style and ideology. How many of these signings were thought through? Why sign Harper, Fraser, Pigott and Co if the club just doesn't know how to use them to their best? These players just don't look coached, they don't look like they know what they are doing. A complete disgrace, you have to ask why this project has fallen flat on its face so quickly. |
 | Forum Reply | Walton Jan recall? at 08:36 12 Dec 2021
Well, let's be honest, there's no way Walton should be playing in league 1. If he does go back, good luck to him, he deserves a regular spot in the Championship. If we somehow pulled off a deal for him, I'd be stunned |

I like the shout for John Gregory on twitter earlier tbf. A Gregory-Atkinson double act could do it |

Well, Watford are in the Premier League so must be doing something right. And nobody expects us to perform like Man City or Liverpool, don't be daft. We just need to perform better than, God forbid it, the likes of Rotherham, Oxford, MK Dons and Plymouth. As I say, thankfully our owners hold us to a higher standard and recognise we should be better performing better than these clubs, with respect to them- and we just haven't been. |

I don't think Cook can be laid with the blame of ripping the heart out of the club, the heart was long gone before he came in. I wasn't sorry to see any of those players who had underperformed for too long leave in the summer. And the clear pit and rebuild was needed. In hindsight, Cook signed some quality but too many of the players who have come in he has not known what to do with- Burgess, Harper, Piggott, Chaplin. He failed to show he could fashion success with some quality new tools. But he brought some likeability (this should be a word) back to the club, a passionate and likeable personality. I'm sorry for the man Cook it didn't work out, just not the manager we saw. |

Cook's poor record got him sacked, especially after all the money which he spent and the calibre of players who came in. He was sacked because thankfully our owners hold us to a higher standard than being a mid table league 1 side. He wasn't dacked because fans on message boards and social media point these issues out. Negative comments reflect the negative results on the pitch. I am sorry for Cook the man, as he was as likeable and passionate man we have had in the top job. I am not sorry for Cook the manager, who should have achieved so much more. As for who we get in next, if we are going for the Head Coach model of which the structure has been built around the first team coaching set up, then we need a H.C. who has a good coaching reputation, who can bring his usual staff with him. Good and competent coaching can get you out of league 1 more than a reputation can. |

And hope Cook can somehow pull something vastly better next season to get us up. Or change now, and hope a new man can coach competently and at least get a promotion challenge out of this squad of good individuals. I'd go with a change. Don't see Cook or his coaching team having what is needed. |

Being told to grow up by Stephen is a new one. |
 | Forum Reply | Cook is failing, as tough as that is to follow at 21:56 23 Nov 2021
Well, they have proven to be excellent at this level, and even at levels above in some cases. Yes, I do think it is down to coaching. We don't have good coaches. Cook isn't a good coach, his management qualities lie elsewhere which means he relies on having good coaches around him |
