First memory of attending Portman Road
at 14:53 11 Nov 2019
My first match was against West Ham at Christmas 1989 when I was 7.
I assumed it was on Boxing Day, however looking at the historical fixtures it was actually on Christmas Day - I have no idea how my Dad and uncle managed to get away with that!
Anyway we won 1-0, we were lower mid table at the time and they were near the top. I remember asking does that mean we swap places in the league now? :-)
Will we sell Bart or hang on for next season!?
at 14:46 11 Nov 2019
Why would he be 2nd choice?
Bart at his best is better than Holy or Norris, however the Bart from last season is not...
I'd sell him if we could get a good price for him, there are other positions we could do with strengthening more than GK

I grew up in the 80's when English teams were banned from Europe and there was no such thing as Sky Sports or the Premier League.
The league was your run of the mill day to day football, where-as the FA Cup was on TV and was for the glamour and the glory - it will never be that again....

It wasn't a weak team but too many changes to keep the momentum.
I would have perhaps given Chambers + Skuse a break, played Dozzell and any others who'll be missing Tuesday but other than that play as strong as possible to finally break our FA cup jinx - especially as we have no league games for a while....
I wonder if it will be a similar team Tuesday, if it is - then how many of our backup players will break down after playing 2 games in 3 days?

I can see some merit in giving our 2 senior players a break (Chambers and Skuse) but for the rest I think missing both games would do more harm than good - play a near full strength team Sat and then rest the XI for Tuesday

When is Norwood's suspension (he got his 5th yellow last night) - is it just for league games or any?
Assuming he is missing, I'd go for:
Realised I've missed out Judge, will Georgiou be available for the 2nd game or called up to Cyprus?

------------- Bishop --------------- Downes
Just shows how poor our right backs and wingers have been.
Even though they didn't play this system often, this looks to be our best team - with no weak links!

I don't want to include those who were just here on loan, but then again I've selected the Bullard who was on loan, not the impostor we signed!

I can't see this being upheld, if it goes to tribunal then his lawyer would just use the other 2 as examples and say it's age discrimination
Do any of you muppets still agree with VAR
at 14:36 28 Oct 2019
This weekend the Prem VAR ref's were clearly told to lower the bar with what they overturn, however they took it as overturn what you like and they got 50% wrong!
The foul on James was wrong, however the handball was missed by the ref but spotted correctly by VAR
The Zaha dive was actually a pen, so VAR was right there however there was nothing wrong with Arsenal's winner.
I've said before the VAR officials should have just 30 seconds - players are usually still celebrating, if they can't spot anything clearly wrong in 30 seconds then it's not that clear or obvious so you stick with the ref's decision - this way it should just be used for the absolute howlers which was the original idea!

at 09:31 28 Oct 2019
1990 FA Cup semi final day, Liverpool vs Palace and Man Utd vs Oldham, both games going to extra time, then a Man Utd Oldham replay.
Then the final mainly remembered for Ian Wright's 2 goals from then bench, but then a brilliant Hughes volley to equal in ET, the replay was a bit dull but remembered as SAF's 1st trophy with Man Utd
And then shortly afterwards the WC started....

So with KVY set for a spell on the sidelines, who to replace him?!

When Donacien and Roberts were taken off at half time in the EFLT match against Gillingham I thought at the time that's the last we'll see of Donacien - he was playing wing back then (and looked like a centre back being asked to play on the wing!)
I think Lambert's written off Donacien and things would have to be pretty desperate for him to change his mind now...
I'm sure it'll be Woolfie at right back, or Edwards as a wing back.
I wouldn't mind seeing Skuse there as a test (he played a season at RB at Bristol) as that would allow us to stick with what I think is a more balanced midfield of Downes and Nolan/Huws

I agree with this, I'm not ready to give up on Dozzell just yet so a loan would be best.
A lot of people saying to sell Donacien, which although I agree he has no long term future here, but doesn't that leave us short of cover at right back?
Roberts can leave - with Sears and Lankester hopefully returning I can't see him getting into our 2nd XI
England Oh dear!

Henderson and Rice is a midfield to play only against far superior opposition, neither really want the ball or when they do they give it right back, it meant we were effectively playing a 6-4 formation!
Barkley doesn't deserve to be there on his Chelsea form, but seems to be making the difference for England recently, when he came on tonight he turned his man and took 2 of them out the game which created a chance.
We'll qualify. but I think Chilwell and TAA are our best full backs, Keane shouldn't be a starting CB for us, and we can't start Henderson and Rice together in midfield unless we don't want the ball! I'd start Winks in the holding role and keep Henderson there too for his experience and energy, but Winks can actually pass so would hopefully link the defence to the attacking players....
at 14:14 10 Oct 2019
I can't see Lambert risking our 1st XI at all unless promotion is near certain
at 11:10 8 Oct 2019
Maybe Edwards will miss out as he played most the last match, so it will be something like this, probably Wilson instead of Woolf though due to the impending suspension
Team For Tomorrow - Gillingham EFL Trophy?
at 12:49 7 Oct 2019
Says on the match report he misses the next league game.
Is Dozzell unavailable? I know he's in the U20's squad but it would surely be beneficial for him to play a senior game for Ipswich first
at 09:09 7 Oct 2019
To answer the guys original question on there then I think the answer is yes!
Since they beat PSG they are 15th in a 23 team PL table, however 6 teams have been relegated/promoted so have only played half the games, which leaves just Watford and Brighton below Man Utd!
I agree with selling Pogba, he is their most talented and influential player, but is so inconsistent and seems to influence the dressing room in a negative way more often than positive.

It doesn't work because you can freeze the image several times over the half second the ball leaves the foot and when it's this close some images will show the attacker on-side by a cm and others will have him offside by a cm.
The issue is there is no such thing as level now. I believe the VAR officials should have 30 seconds to determine if it's offside or not, if they can't decide either way in this time it's called level and the game continues.
