He was good a few years ago, but then non stop injuries and then last season stayed fit and managed just 3 goals, I can't see anyone else giving him £100k a week again but his demands will still surely outweigh his recent success.... |

I agree, 2 CMs and 1 ST then a bit of a 1 in 1 out scenario with other positions. If Baggott isn't good enough to be our 4th choice CB then we might as well sell him, but from the little I've seen of him he's looked decent and worth giving a chance to |

I'd keep Baggott this season as cover for Greaves, if it really doesn't work out for him when needed I'm sure O'Shea/Woolfie could move across and do a solid job, other than that I agree definitely 2 CM's and 1+ ST needed I think we have too many in the 3 behind the striker so can let 1 or 2 of them go depending on what offers come in |

Tevez looked leaner and quicker than when he played!! |

I don't mind Henderson as we're not exactly overrun with ball winning midfielders and every manager he's ever worked with has really praised his influence and attitude. I would drop Walker now though - TAA and James should be ahead of him and Livramento not far behind either |

I'll go against the grain here and say England. The reason is I think Ipswich would most likely get promoted the year after anyway, and another season of winning more than losing in the Championship isn't the worst thing!! England winning the world cup is something I've never experienced so I'd love to experience that just once in my life!!! If it was Ipswich winning a major trophy then that would be different.... |

I think he was just trying quell the hype to get Delap in. He also wanted all U21 players to be in the under 21s - maybe thought winning the u21 Euros would be better for them long term? I'm hoping he's just experimenting at the moment as he's made some odd decisions so far |

I thought he was technically excellent but poor defensively when he was here but he was a kid then and I'm sure he's improved a lot since then! |

True, his name has pros and cons, as by 19 his brother was already an England regular and had starred for Dortmund in the Bundesliga and CL, perhaps if he had any other name people would be more excited about him? |

Maybe he just wants to look at different people at this stage, but some odd choices - Chalobah in after playing 7 games in a row for Chelsea before missing their last match. No Guehi, Maguire or Shaw (only 1 left back called up). A lot of players playing in the Club World cup, maybe he thinks they can't have a holiday so might as well play through [Post edited 23 May 10:56]

I'm hoping there's a lot less movement than all this - I think a lot of our success in the Championship was because we had a settled squad who all knew the system. I think Delap and Burgess will go, and I'd expect either Tuanzebe or Johnson to stay. I'm hoping Davis, O'Shea and Hutchison stay too. I think Harness and Luongo will also leave. I think Baggott can stay as 4th choice CB. So if that happens I think we need 2 CM's and 1 ST (Szmodics can cover as emergency 3rd choice - he's done it before, unless we can find a promising youngster who will probably just play in cups) |

I don't understand Newcastle as he'd be a backup to Isak, perhaps if they fail to qualify for the CL he'd get sold but it looks like they will so I can't see them selling him. I did think West Ham as he has similarities to Antonio who's been successful there for a long time, but I don't know if they play different under Potter. However he would do well for Everton, albeit as well as any striker can in a Moyes team. He'd play for Man Utd but is he ready for the pressure that playing for them brings? I can't see his style suiting Chelsea or Arsenal and I'd think Tottenham would have a new manager next season so who knows with them. Villa might not be a bad option |
 | Forum Reply | Hutchison would be miles too good for the Championship at 00:04 4 May 2025
We all know he has quality, but I'm not sure his stats show enough for a PL team to pay a big fee for him. He has 3 goals and 3 assists this season, to put that into context Ait Nouri has 4 goals and 7 assists, Munoz from Palace has 4 and 5 and they're both full backs/wing backs. Maybe some teams will ignore his stats and pay the £35m for him, but I hope he stays as he could be the best player in the Championship next season |

Assuming the loanees all go and Delap gets sold and Burgess, Tuanzebe and Harness all don't renew their contracts, we're left with GK - Palmer, Walton, Muric, Slicker RD - Johnson, H.Clarke RCD - O'Shea, Woolfenden LCD - Greaves, Baggott LD - Davis, Townsend, Boniface CM - Morsy, Luongo, Taylor, Humphries LAM - J.Clarke, Philogene, Broadhead CAM - Hutchison, Szmodics, Chaplin RM - Burns, Ogbene CF - Hirst, Al Hamadi We're well covered in most areas - especially the AM's. I think we'll need to sell/loan out at least 1 keeper, I would give Baggott the chance to be cover for Greaves. I think we'll definitely need 1 more central mid - perhaps 2 if Luongo or Humphries leave. We'll also need a striker and I'd sell Al Hamadi. If O'Shea or Davis get sold then we'd need replacements, if Hutchison goes then I think we're still well covered in his positions. |

It seemed a clear tactic from Arsenal before the red card to overload our left. Looking back to the highlights always Odegaard or Trossard was over there along with Saka and White, Cajuste had to be there too and Clarke had to be back, but either one of them weren't quick enough. If you look at our right side with Tuanzebe, Johnson and Morsy supporting that's far more defensively solid than our left (shouldn't be as good going forward though) so it's a pretty easy decision for opponents to decide which side to attack |

He has to stay in the PL, however I think he'd be better off joining a mid table (well mid table expectations) team for a year or two before joining one of the biggest teams. I read yesterday Cunha's release clause is £62.5m so I was thinking can we offer him a new contract - give him a £1m signing fee, increase his wages to match our highest and raise the release clause to £45m, I'm sure his agent will want some of that extra profit too, but I don't think £45m would put anyone off him. |
 | Forum Reply | Should we sign Sarmiento for next season? at 16:07 9 Apr 2025
I agree, I think Clarke will be a major asset in the Championship and I can't see us losing many if any of our attacking midfielders (unless we chose to) Hutchison is perhaps our highest rated but his 3 goals and 2 assists are hardly going to have the PL teams offering us huge prices for him and I doubt we'd sell him for a loss. The only signings we'll need are replacing those we lose, so a striker and at least 1 midfielder. Perhaps someone will take Davis or maybe O'Shea or Tuanzebe. However I think we have enough cover for the latter 2 with those we have out on loan. |
 | Forum Reply | Bad luck, only Ok signings, poor finishing... at 14:45 2 Apr 2025
I agree it's down to lots of things. Last season we didn't make too many new signings and those we got gradually worked their way into the team. This meant all the players knew what the manager wanted and the set patterns of play really well. This season we had to make more signings as we'd gone ahead of several player's level. But too many were played straight away either through choice or enforced due to injuries, this meant the team didn't have that instinctive knowledge of each others game and what the manager wanted. We've had too many injuries this season, however I think this is probably true for most teams. In the autumn we had too many decisions go against us at key moments, if they hadn't then confidence could have gone up, but it didn't and was clearly evident in Muric who's mistakes cost us. This is not only most of our player's first times at this level but McKenna's too as a boss and they've all been learning what it takes. Assuming a miracle doesn't happen this season - If we can keep hold of most of our squad and McKenna I'd be confident on getting promoted again and think we'd then be in a better place to stay up. |

I think Darren Bent is the only +100 scorer not to be in the list perhaps he should be in for Kevin Phillips? The one who stood out to me was Moussa Dembele - decent player for a couple of years and probably in top 100 PL players then, but ever? I'm not sure who to replace him - J. Cole/Duff/Robben, Pallister/Kanchelskis, Riise/McAllister, Fernandinho, Bruno Fernandes, Saka, Foden, Ruben Dias - actually looking back at PL player of seasons it should be Scott Parker!
