Just to be sure that I haven't wandered into some weird parallel universe, you're asserting that the ability to pass a driving test as at least as important as being able to appreciate context and empathise with other people, right?

That McDonald's ad on 13:31 - May 16 with 2334 views | DoobDude | Why should only this ad attract criticism. All ads are horrible! Have you seen the latest Natwest one, what on earth is going on there. Except it isn't terrible because I remembered it, which means it did exactly what it was supposed to!

It seems more people than I ever imagined can't use basic empathy. It really is sad.

That McDonald's ad on 08:34 - May 16 by The_Romford_Blue | So if you don't think that's the ideology behind it, what do you think McDonald's are trying to go for here? |
Of course that's not the ideology. As i asked, where have they said this is the best way? If you read their response on the BBC link earlier... "We wanted to highlight the role McDonald's has played in our customers' everyday lives - both in good and difficult times," the spokesperson added." Whether you like it or not or whether it's appropriate or not, that's what it does. It doesn't in any way suggest this is the best way to deal with the issue.

That McDonald's ad on 10:18 - May 16 by monytowbray | It's emotional exploitation that fails to understand or be considerate of people who have lost a parent at a young age, which is a pretty traumatic experience for most, all for the sake of selling f*cking burgers. |
You're over sensitive.

Empathy tells me this kid lost his dad a long time ago. My dad is dead, I didn't mind the advert. A bit of perspective is whats needed here, not empathy.

I don't think anyone is telling people what should or shouldn't bother them. But as I said earlier, If I let everything bother me that is referenced in an ad, TV show or movie, all in the name of entertainment or profit, then I wouldn't switch the box on or go to the pictures. People are quite rightly entitled to be affected by this ad. But other people are also affected by things you aren't raising. It's life unfortunately. The alternative is living in a bubble.

That McDonald's ad on 15:38 - May 16 with 2103 views | Sarge | I have no opinions either way on whether the advert is sensitive or not. It's a sh1t advert though. McDonalds sell burgers, not experiences. People go there for cheap and familiar food, not because it brings people together. Everyone knows who and what McDonalds are, do they really need to advertise? The advert tells me nothing about their products only that they sell some disgusting fish burger. I'm not more likely to go there because I saw an advert for it, even though it's barely even advertising itself. Advertisers need to get it in their heads that some things are no more than what they are. Stop romanticising the mundane. Modern trend seems to be to go for some emotional angle to sell something dull like Lloyds Bank does. Who honestly would switch banks on the back of an advert that says nothing about their accounts? Gah, advertisers!
