Difference is CIL has a reasonable argument, whereas PitBoss is clearly clutching at straws.

That McDonald's ad on 16:04 - May 16 by monytowbray | A bit of both, but they usually apply some taste to it. What next, a beaten spouse goes to Burger King to cheer herself up after the her husband gives her a black eye? A man dying from cancer has a brief moment of happiness as he slowly and painfully dies because a Domino's Pizza delivery showed up? |
Agree wholeheartedly with this statement. Slightly off topic but still relevant as it highlights the irresponsibility of media institutions/companies etc... I always remember growing up watching the BBC's 'Tracy Beaker', and as a running in joke they referred to the children's home in which she lived in as a 'dumping ground'. Now, if you are a kid in care...watching a BBC kids show which all your friends and peers watched too.. catororising all kids in care as being dumped at the 'dumping ground'... what sort of reaction is that kid in care going to receive in everyday life? It hardly makes their lives any easier and doesn't do anything to overcome stigma and doesn't promote tolerance to people from all differing situations in life (particularly, that is beyond their control)! The McDonald's advert is crass as it suggests that if you are a young person aged 10/11 (as the actor in the advert is) all your thoughts, emotions, grief should be simplified and then normalised if you have a frigging from fillet o fish burger. This is the message they are feeding to young people in that situation.

That McDonald's ad on 16:13 - May 16 by monytowbray | The exploitation is the fact it's directly linked to selling burgers. What does any of that have to do with burgers? |
For a former film student who works in marketing, you'll know that many of the most effective and memorable adverts are from the car and beer industries - most of which have little to do cars or beer. EDIT: I think the link here is not to burgers, but to fond memories, familiarity and being successful and popular. [Post edited 16 May 2017 16:23]

That McDonald's ad on 16:08 - May 16 by Ryorry | It should be manifestly obvious to anyone with a modest number of braincells that we are all different, we all feel and react differently to all sorts of things, have different strengths and weaknesses, and there are many different kinds of inteliigence - mathematical, footballing, emotional, literary, political, intuitive, conceptual etc etc. A pity you seem unable to recognise that we all need each other and our differences to effectively function as a reasonably harmonious society, both in practical and emotional terms, and be a bit more tolerant? |

The boy didn't even know what colour eyes his dad had. There is no exploiting of grief or sadness. But hey, I think we're not going to agree on this one.

I made my opinion clear on P1 as to why I felt it was exploitation, I'm bored of repeating myself. It's a burger ad.

Apparently it's a fish sandwich. It also doesn't appear in Wiki's list of Burgers so I'm saying no.
