Jewell Plans to Move to Suffolk
Jewell Plans to Move to Suffolk
Saturday, 15th Jan 2011 10:25

Town boss Paul Jewell has confirmed that he plans to move to Suffolk, having taken over at Portman Road on Thursday.

Jewell said: “I’m planning to relocate to the area. Ilkley is near here, isn’t it? It’s a long way to commute to here from Yorkshire. I’ve got a grown-up family and I’ll be looking to get somewhere within 30 miles, like the players are asked to do.

“When I went to Derby I bought a place there. You have to throw your heart and soul into it, it’s no good trying to dash back home all the time.

“Having said that I’m going back home this weekend but that’s only because it was my wife’s birthday on Thursday, and I forgot! It’s not as if I’m going to be going up and down the road, we’re going to be based here.”

The new boss admits that he isn't quite au fait with the geography of this part of the world yet, having made what he thought was a short trip to take in a game on Tuesday evening: “I thought Peterborough was just down the road!”

Nice to have a bit of character in an interview, and a friendly one. That Irish bloke we had before was too serious.

This Paul Jewell bloke is growing on me more and more - coming across as calm, measured, honest and realistic chap - just what we need to steady the ship.

When you're a football fan and your team is 'on the up' everything is right with the world and although it is extremely early days you only have to read the posts on here to sense there is a growing wave of optimism around the club.

As much as i had reservations about Roy Keane as a person when he was appointed his straight talking approach i did admire. It is always sad to see a manager sacked and like everyone we wanted success to return under Roy Keane. However it was time for a change and in Paul Jewell there seems to be a nice balance. He talks honestly and seems comfortable with the media, strikes me as being fair and believes all the players deserve a chance. I really like the fact he's got a sense of human too, very important. Seems like the type of bloke you'd have a few pints with.

Good luck to all concerned on Saturday : - ))
