QPR Linked With Bullard Move
QPR Linked With Bullard Move
Thursday, 14th Apr 2011 08:43

QPR will move for Town loanee Jimmy Bullard in the summer, according to one of this morning’s newspapers. The 32-year-old has enjoyed a hugely successful spell at Portman Road with Paul Jewell having confirmed the start of talks with Hull about the possibility of a permanent deal during the close season.

Bullard, who has two years remaining on his £45,000-a-week contract at the KC Stadium, has also said he’d be keen on joining the Blues longer term, however, the chance of a return to the Premier League with Neil Warnock’s soon-to-be-promoted side at this late stage in his career would certainly be of interest to the one-time England call-up.

Meanwhile, released Town striker Pablo Couñago has told club insiders that he plans to return to Spain at the end of the season.

The 31-year-old was at Portman Road on Saturday to watch the Blues’ 2-1 defeat of Crystal Palace, with whom he has spent the season on loan. Couñago's Town contract comes to an end this summer and with manager Paul Jewell confirming that no new terms will be on offer.

The former Celta Vigo and Málaga man has scored two goals in 16 starts and 13 appearances for the bench for the Eagles.

Fellow frontman Kevin Lisbie, who has also been told he will not be offered a new contract by the Blues, has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury. Lisbie, 32, has spent 2010/11 at Millwall, scoring four goals in 11 starts and 12 sub appearances.

Elsewhere, Liverpool are again linked with striker Connor Wickham in a number of today's papers, as he was at the weekend.

Oh well bye bye Jimmy then! No one can reasonably expect him not to want to play in the Premniership! Thanks for all you've done Jimmy

Bullard has been awesome for us (mostly), however, he never makes a significant tackle, never jumps for a header and is an accident waiting to happen re injuries imo because of this. I would love to see him with us next season, as he is the playmaker we have been crying out for, but he deffo needs a strong tackler / holding midlfielder beside him, something we don't currently have.

Please don't make this a Clegg witch-hunt ... there's fek all he can do about speculation.

You also have to factor in that any deal we do for Bullard will mean Hull paying off some of his contract to leave. So £1m fee will probably end up with Bullard getting most if not all of that as a pay off = £10k a week spread over 2 years + our £20k = £30k a week and guaranteed first team football and maybe Captain?

He's not going to get £45k wherever he goes, my only fear is location comes into it and he wants to be in London and I believe our 30 minute rule still applies to player location?

Jimmy Bullard is clearly a Premiership player.

C'est le vie.

Bullard got a clattering tackle on tuesday and hobbled around for about twenty seconds looking very sorry for himself. He is a 65 minute player now - perhaps he recognises that, has enough money, and simply wants to play. You can live in hope..
...but all these players that go to warm benches in the Prem are simply indicative of how there's too much money in one League and not enough in the others....

So we should look at teams going down and pick up any players that stand out ..

Ched Evans ?? Joe Mattock at Sheff Utd would not be bad additions

St Ledger and Billy Jones at Preston another two who are def good enough and would improve - esp full back positions ... If Southampton do not come up Rickie Lambert

A move away was always on the cards, its no surprise another club will make an offer that he can't refuse.

Great shame if it happens. As someone pointed out, its a London club so he will be ' home '. Personally, I feel he will stay. If, the money truely is not what he's all about, then he knows exactly the feelings most here have for him. Sign here now Jimmy..........................................!

Lets just see, it's too early to speculate yet, if he does stay with us then awesome, but if he does go, I'm sure PJ will look at a quality replacement.

If he goes...ah well thanks for the memories and rescuing our season

I am not going to hold my breathe on this one. With Agents being lower than bacteria you never know until they have signed

If he doesnt stay then someone of his ilk is needed beause without him we are less than average. From Jimmy's point of view, he is clearly a cut above the donkeys in this league but will he be able to find that extra little bit of space at his age in the Premier. See your career out here Jimmy, we love you and the fishing is better here than in West London.

Money talks and I suspect Bullard, along with Norris, will not be ITFC players at the end of the summer.

Here some names to consider strikers, Jason Roberts not getting regular football, Bednar at West Brom, Kevin Phillips (short term deal) but knows where the goal is, Ranger at Newcastle.
