Club Looking Into Players' Night Out
Friday, 26th Oct 2012 09:33

Town are looking into sightings of five players out late on Wednesday night, hours after Paul Jewell’s Blues exit and prior to caretaker-boss Chris Hutchings’s first training session at Playford Road on Thursday morning.

Reports that the five - skipper Carlos Edwards, who was 34 on Wednesday, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Josh Carson, Michael Chopra and Paul Taylor — were out in Vodka Revolution appeared widely on social networking sites.

A club spokesman says the matter is being looked into, although no rules were broken: “We are aware that a number of our players were out late into the evening on Wednesday.

“Although they were not breaking any official club rules by being out, this has been brought to the attention of chief executive Simon Clegg and caretaker manager Chris Hutchings who are now dealing with it.”

Edwards had been withdrawn from Wednesday’s Supporters Club AGM as chief executive Clegg felt the players needed to be concentrating on footballing matters given the current situation.

Speaking at yesterday's pre-match press conference, Hutchings said he had told the players he would be taking a "no nonsense" approach during his time in charge.

Last week, captain Edwards said he felt former manager Jewell had been "too nice" during his latter days at the club.

I don't see what the problem is? Did they all turn up to training late the next day with massive hangovers? Then I could understand that issue. If not, then what's wrong with a bit of team bonding?

Normally wouldn't think it's a problem to go out on a Wednesday night, no game until Saturday. As long as they behave themselves, don't drink too much. However it shows a lack of respect, same day manager loses his job it would have been wise to stay out of the public eye.

News Flash
They read that Megson was on his way to the training ground , 5 of them legged it to the pub , 5 of them carried on playing dot to dot , 5 of them carried on painting by numbers , whilst Hutchins stood alone in the centre circle of a practice pitch shouting instructions to 3 pidgeons who have been signed on loan.
Yes the lunitics are running the asylum

A complete non-story. Daily Mail-esque.

So Carlos had a few mates go out with him to celebrate his birthday... why is that news, unless there were any incidents or any official club rules were broken?

I thought Carlos was 4 on Wednesday?

Exactly BluePG. Unless the players involved either:
a) Got into a fight.
b) Ripped the place up.
c) Turned up late/hungover for training.

There is no issue. These things always take on "significance" when a team is losing, but ultimately it's an irrelevance.

Taylor's injury is fine. He killed the pain with Vodka.

They were probably celebrating Paul Jewell's departure. The Labour Party had a "gang of four" same same ITFC?

I think it was just them thoughtfully raising a toast to PJ for all his endeavour, and just happened to be Carlos' birthday. They were going to all go to the McDonald's drive thru on Cardinal Park but decided it was a bit nippy out so stayed in Revolution.

Carlos not at the AGM because he was 'preparing for the game' is the issue my friends.

Who doesn't go out for a drink, especially after a bad day at the office. Why are people questioning Paul Taylor's injury!? Unless he was break dancing all night, I don't see a problem. Some Ipswich supporters are genuine muppets! Embarrasing. Coyb

JET was so drunk he was virtually paralytic on that night, and he had been drinking since 1 o'clock in the afternoon, throwing around wads of cash like it was nothing and bragging about his £14,000-per-week salary. Edwards was completely bad-mouthing Paul Jewell, unlike his comments in the paper would suggest, while Josh Carson was making equally vile comments about their ex-manager.

Now I am a working man myself, and God knows when I last had a night out - it's just totally unprofessional, regardless of whether the manager has been sacked or not. I wouldn't be so opposed to them going out to celebrate a win on a Saturday night, but during the week they should be getting as much sleep as possible and preparing for the weekend's game.

What a complete and utter disgrace. JET out!

Not surprised to see Chopra on the list ! he's a lot more trouble than he's worth. !!

Not making much progress towards his 30 goals either !

Wednesday would have been a hard day for all at the club, I cant see the issue here?!?! Everyone deserves a little down time and as long as they all weren't hanging the next morning at training! Would this be a story if they went for a curry and a few pints of cobra? No! People just assume that because they were in Vodka Rev they must of got wasted.
Give the lads some slack for once - hope you enjoyed your voddies lads, now lets concentrate on getting 3 points on Saturday. COYB, season starts here!

Oh Michael, you've been such a signing for us - more pi$$ ups, gambling issues and arrests than goals.

We certainly took a gamble of you, shame it didn't pay off, in fact it's boosted our debt

That MuhrenCross

Those are extremely serious allegations you are making. Can you substantiate them ? Were you there ? Did you actually hear such comments ? Or is it reported to you by someone who was there ?

If substantiated then indeed the players were well out of order.
