I've always thought of him as a solid Championship goalkeeper and I'd welcome him to Portman Road. It'll be harsh on Loach if Camp goes straight into the team, although maybe McCarthy will promise him that to get him to come to Ipswich?

I wonder what the fee will be? (no doubt another 'undisclosed') According to Wiki he cost QPR £300K* in 2007 and Forest £100K* in 2009, so with six months on his contract he shouldn't be much at all.

* When decent keepers cost this sort of money, what a sickener the £1M on Fulop was!

He's a good keeper by repute, and from what I've seen of him.

What's the story at Forest? Do they not rate him, or is it that he would be number 1 but for contractual demands that they consider excessive?

Why would we want him as our reserve keeper when we already have ALB?

I worry about his attitude, he was in the Northern Ireland side for a while there after getting clearance to play through a grandparent, but then Roy Carroll was preferred to him for a game so he withdrew from the squad and made hiomself unavialble for the next two games. I don't know if he's permanently unavailable, but I wasn't impressed with his attitude.

2 years ago he was Chanmpionship keeper of the year, but his form has definitely dipped.

the story at forest is that the fans are up in arms about him going, there isnt much of a split either like the shambers thing, they really rate him and this is likely to be a nail in mcLeishs coffin if whoever he brings in isnt a top top keeper...... my forest season ticket holder mates reckon last year when the chips were down he contributed more points through individual excellence than any one else...... says theyd have been down if it wasnt for him.......

Big, bossy, brave, and a hardened pro. We need a keeper like this so yes please.

He's not as good as Loach

IMO would be an excellent addition , but may be playing a game of bluff with Forest . If your current employers are not offering the deal you want ,you go back to them with competitors offers .

Would be a good addition. I chatted to a forest fan last night and he said he would be gutted to see him go as he is a really good keeper. He thinks it is mainly mcleish clearing house wanting to make a statemnet bringing in his own players.

Always has an air of arrogance about him but not necessarily a bad thing. Until this season has always played well against us and most of all for me he commands his area.
He has the right build and if the price and terms are right I'd definitely be pleased to have him. If Hull are in for him suspect he may go there as he will have little competition and they seem to have the cash.

Firstly I'd agree with most on here that Camp is as good a keeper as any in this division. There's no denying that for his first two seasons he was outstanding for us.
Problems started when McClaren became manager - first he brought expensive contract players that made no mark like Miller and Derbyshire (their salaries probably dwarfed Camp's) and second he denied Camp a move to the premier league with Swansea City. Since then his form has not been anything like as good - making mistakes and not commanding his area - leading to many Forest fans believing that his heart isn't in the club anymore.
Contrary to a previous poster most are pragmatic about the decision to let him go - yes its a shame to lose a good player but on the other hand do you want a half hearted keeper letting in sloppy goals? Also MCcCleish has made his point to other players stalling on contracts.
If he plays to his potential you'll have yourselves a bargain and an excellent keeper. Unlike Chambers who did nothing much to endear himself to the trickies Camp will be missed but I think a move away is what's needed for all parties.
Good luck for the season, I've always had a soft spot for Ipswich since you beat Arsenal in the cup final. Be interesting to see iit works out for him and also for McGoldrick who was never really given much of a chance at Forest.

By strange coincidence it was strongly rumoured that Loach was lined up as Camp's replacement last season if his move to Swansea went ahead.

Seems to have a similar attitude to Reo Coker,and first player I think to hesitate when Mick came calling.Cant blame the bloke for trying to get best deal possible though,as obviously has a high opinion of himself which I suppose is no bad thing if you are good.
Pleased that our Manager seems to be having more input into transfer dealings than has been the case previously,and will trust that he gets a good outcome.
At least with Loach,it wouldn't be a disaster if he didn't come though.

Agree with howdonblue. Would have preferred , having spoke to MM, him wanting to play for us,but I guess that is idealistic with modern footballers a lot of the time. No doubt about his abilility if pn his game though. Would like Kieron Westwood aswell.

Cant understand why its harsh on Scott! he will be given every chance to be our first choice whoever comes in as rival for the jumper.

I agree with Reuser is God - ALB is a waste of wages. Get shot and have two decent keepers at championship level.

This may sound harsh and i know i am criticising a player, but ALB is simply not good enough.

Dr Sheldon: I saw Forest play a European match in Malmö, Sweden in September 1995. Malmö won 2-1, but Forest went through on away goals with a 1-0 home win. Forest brought over quite a lot of fans - don't think you had as many as ITFC took to Helsingborg (also in Sweden) in 2001, however. Of course, before that, Forest beat the same team, Malmö, 1-0 in 1979 (wasn't it?) to win the European Cup. I'm guessing you were too young to see that? I watched it on TV in the UK. "Those were the days," as we say in these parts!
