Chopra: I Don't Have to Leave
Monday, 6th May 2013 10:49

Striker Michael Chopra says it’ll be down to him whether he leaves Town this summer, having been told that the Blues will listen to offers for him along with team-mate Jay Emmanuel-Thomas.

Chopra tweeted: “Just coz I'm on the transfer list does not mean I have to leave. I have one year left on my contract it’s down to the player if he wants to go or not.”

The 29-year-old, who joined the Blues from Cardiff for £1 million in the summer of 2011, was the subject of loan offers from Hull City and other clubs in January but manager Mick McCarthy was unwilling to allow him to move on at that time.

Ex-Arsenal man Emmanuel-Thomas, 22, also has a year left on his Town contract.

Lets be sensible ,its not his fault he has a year left on such a vast sum of money. I wouldn't leave my job if my employer told me he would like not to pay me what im getting ,go find another job ,unless that other job paid an amount I would be happy with.

Not TOO bothered about Chopra, but wtf with JET? He's just tweeted that he wants a new challenge as well, he'll go out somewhere and rip us apart in his return

I'd be rather sorry to see JET go, would be great to see him get back to unleashing those booming long-range shots to terrify goalkeepers and he's obviously got some good team spirit friendships going.

chopra has done himself no favours with this post.
i think if mick cant sell him he will use him as i think he can still be a good goalscorer at this level. it says something that hull were in for him.
i cant believe the news about jet you need somebody like him to unlock teams sometimes.
i think with us playind 442 instead of 4231 means players like jet and lee martin are being moved on as they dont fit in with micks 442 system.
i think both jet and martin would be excellent in the forward line of 3 in the 4231 system with taylor as well and mcgoldrick up top.
hyam and tabb holding mid and are fantastic defence it would work well.
mick is 442 to the core tho and fair play to him it has worked so far

I've never hated a Town player in my life but Michael Chopra has to be the closest thing to it! After all the things the club have done for him he still can't find a shred of class about him. As for JET, he's a likeable character but not enough graft and to be honest i've never seen this major talent people bang on about either. Their wages (including Lee Martin) can bring in some quality players at this level.

Michael Chopra will prob move to a club in Malaysia or the like, he is prob hoping that Ipswich pay him off to leave early. He can be a very good player and we must all admit that the service from mid-field has been mostly poor this season. But you cannot keep saying things like that on twitter and not get stick from the fans.

As for JET no club in our division can have a bit part player like him in the first 11, he is better suited to play in Spain or Italy or he has to up his game to play in Micks teams.
He may well go to another team in our league, but unless he can change his game big style he will not last long in the 1st team.
Like a lot of very talented individual type plyers they have a problem fitting into a team plan but also he is not as good as he thinks he is. I like him as a player and think he does a great job from the subs bench, but even then he is very hit and miss.

I really want chopra to leave, both for him and the club. Yet another overpaid player, who really hasn't performed as he should. But who would want him?

The two contrasting sides of Football Danny Ings , Burnley on Saturday - Class

Michael Chopra, you do have to leave. We need a striker who will give us twenty goals a season, and you simply are not that player anymore.

Make him train on his own - turn up late for training fine him - Any misdemeanour fine him - call in the money loaned to him, if has not been repaid.
Teach him no player however inflated his ego is greater than the club.

Dear oh dear..some people would be much better off if they stayed away from Twitter..Chopra comes across like a spoilt 6 year old girl at times.
This club has bent over backwards to accommodate his immaturity over the last 2 seasons.
Where were the 30 goals you promised last season Chops?...Chops by name chops by nature..whatta div..the sooner it gone the better mate.

if I were town filling that comment I would fine him wages- also really put a steep garnishment on his wages until the supposed debt is repaid. also maybe could release him and then take off all that is owed off of the compensation. What an absolute plonker- showing a really bad level of maturity

If he has no intention of going, peharps the club could offer him a rehab trip to the Antarctic? I dont know, for perhaps a year?

I wouldn't worry , he'll be in the gutter again in the not too distant future.

He's not worth the hassle and the next time he is in that dark place again there probably won't be anyone to bail him out.
