Chambers: Chance to Put a Run Together
Wednesday, 21st Dec 2016 12:34

Skipper Luke Chambers hopes the Blues can build on last Saturday’s 3-2 win at Wigan and put a run of results together over the Christmas period.

Town, who are 15th, nine points off the play-offs and eight from the bottom three and still to record back-to-back wins this season, are next in action at home to Fulham on Boxing Day with Bristol City visiting Portman Road on Friday 30th December.

“We are in a bit of no-man's land at the minute which has been down to our inconsistency of results,” Chambers told the club site.

“We haven't been able to put a real run of results together yet but we have a chance to do exactly that now and that's what we will be aiming to do.

“Christmas is always a time where you can pick up a lot of points during a relatively short space of time as there are so many games, and that's exactly what we need to do.”

The visits by Fulham and Bristol City are followed by a trip to QPR on Monday 2nd January, then the FA Cup third round tie against Lincoln City at Portman Road on Saturday 7th January.

Let's actually do it then. We keep hearing this sort of thing and then a disappointing result or two follow it. Best keep quiet perhaps until we've at least strung another win or two together on the trot. One win doesn't make a run.

I personally think that people calling for Mick's head are mickheads.

I would like to see you lot doing better on the budget that he has.

Chambers is the best right back the club has ever had. Puts Fabin Wilnis to shame.

As for Varney, he could teach Marcus Stewart a thing or two.

Lay off Mick.

This could have easily been boiled down to:

"There is a fixture list. The aim is to try and win all of them."

you are one of the old hat Mick will never drop and the core of all the issues we are seeing this season.

Upto the players to make it happen. We are capable of beating fulham, just get out there and fight for it.

Mick has done well working with such a limited budget, but saying Chambers is the best right back we have ever had is a bit excessive. So, he's better than George Burley? Taricco? I honestly can't be bothered to list them all as the list goes on and on. As for Varney, he's a good player and I rate him, but I'd be surprised to see him here next year. I think both Varney and Coke will exit on frees in the Summer.

Why can't we have a bit of optimism and really get behind the team rather than this negativity?!

Would rather they all kept their mouths shut and concentrate giving us fans something to cheer about on Boxing day and the next 5 months.

I like Chambers, through his passion, but he isn't good enough at right back. The amount of times he is beaten for pace and skill is getting ridiculous! As for the comments, we need consistency but that won't happen when Mick is consistent with his terrible team selections!!!

Have to, its imperative given the run of fixtures from end of Jan until end of Feb.

Can't see a run put together whilst both fullbacks let attackers get crosses in the box for fun and are often AWOL. If half your defense are not good defenders that does not bode well for keeping clean sheets. If we set the team up to push forward more to create and score more we can look forward to conceding more. Don't be surprised if offers come in for Bart and Webster and are accepted as MM has been doing his best to advertise them well in the last few days before the accounts came out. Put Kenlock and Emmanual in, they are the future and should only get better with games. Chambers and Knudsen are getting worse as they play more.

YAWN........

Can we have a 'cliche' filter.

When a footballer talks in bone cliches the sounds stops. All you would only see their lips moving. When they say something interesting you would hear them again.

It would make for a quieter life.

Chambers, if you have nothing interesting to say.......say nothing.

Ok i have nothing personal about Luke is a proper bloke but if he believes he is doing a good job at right back or as captain he is deluded as McCarthy for selected him every game we will not put a run together with him playing r/b we need a new leader and i think it should be Bart and we need a new r/b and that should be Josh do whats right for the team and i hope you have a happy Christmas Luke and everyone connected with the club..
