After signing an Iraqi what is our greatest non European team? Excluding loans.
at 19:40 29 Jan 2024

So the rules are entirely based on which country they represented. So that rules out viljoen and I think d^array as well as zondervan.
I wasn't sure re Roy Bailey.
Baker is in top 15 all time town scorers so must have been good!

Whats the latest a striker can sign today
at 11:50 12 Jan 2024

Sorry Phil but whilst you're right about the debut v Liverpool, the next game was Soton at home where Armstrong thought he'd scored twice but one was changed to a Bridge own goal. They goals away at Boro were later in the seaon

I heard them and they were definitely aimed at the time wasting begonia when he turned to clap the town fans but there were only a few boos and it was good that begonia remembers his brief stay. Aluko probably unaware of reason for the boos.

All Quiet on the Eastern Front
at 17:35 22 Aug 2023

Let’s be clear:
1. The club is in a much better position in terms of how it’s run but fans are allowed to criticise Ashton when something does go well just as not everything marcus evans did was poor. Ashton demands performance from everyone including himself and they’ve clearly not achieved what they’d expected.
2. Ashton clearly stated several weeks ago that they were looking to add 2 to 3 more players and were advanced on 2 of them. These potential deals have clearly fallen through a long time ago now and they’ve been unsuccessful up to start of this week in terms of anyone else they’ve bid for. Those quotes clearly show that anyone who thinks we’re still waiting on our original first choice targets for permanent transfers is dreaming.
3. Given the club have rightly been clear that we still need to strengthen, people can say they’ve failed up to now. That doesn’t mean the club isn’t well run, it is well run.
4. Rumours of a signing re Williams - hopefully true as we still need more quality.

Shortlist to replace McKenna. Inside info.
at 13:44 6 Apr 2023

I’m told the club are impressed with Palace turning to Hodgson and Chelsea going back to Lampard. They’ve prepared a shortlist in case of McKenna leaving. I’m told the shortlist is as follows:

Roy Keane
Paul Cook
Paul Lambert
Paul Hurst
Marcus Evans

Our 20 biggest ever signings listed here
at 13:55 19 Jan 2023

With regard to EADT’s list, it was later reported that Chopra was only £1m and there since been suggestions it was only £500,000 as Cardiff were very keen to get rid…..can’t imagine why. Also I think JET’s fee was later reported to be about £650k which made more sense as he’d never come close to making it at Arsenal….and again I can’t imagine why….

Our record signings
at 15:16 11 Jan 2023

Mick told eadt that Huws was 200K. Waghorn was only 250k. As for Garner, it was reported as 750k
By then, Evans was not spending big as we know. But in Keane first summer, he spent 2.65m on leadbitter, 1.35m on edwards, 1.7m on prison, 1.6m on martin and 600k on delaney, maybe 50k on healy making around 8m on back of 2.25m on norris the previous January

Waghorn - Middlesbrough/Derby
at 15:00 11 Feb 2022

Yeh you still occasionally read people saying we got £6m for Richard Wright even though sherpshsnks even later said it was £2m! But with Waghorn, I’ve just googled it and both EAst Anglian and Sky reported it as £5m, as does John Percy in the article in telegraph.
Phil - was it £5m? East Anglian even says it was £5m plus potential add ons to £7.5m.

Waghorn - Middlesbrough/Derby
at 14:13 11 Feb 2022

Ok cheers. But not for £2.5m surely? As I recall we were holding out for more than the £5m bid but then gave in and accepted it after he’d been an unused sub for West Ham friendly and game before that?
Either way, at least we used the money well - £1.6m on jackson, and £2m for the Shrewsbury pair …

Waghorn - Middlesbrough/Derby
at 13:13 11 Feb 2022

Not sure this is how I recall it, but John Percy claims in article today that ‘Gibson’s anger surfaced in 2018 when Derby hijacked Boro’s deal to sign ipswich forward Martyn Waghorn for £2.5 million. Waghorn was on his way to sign until Derby moved in and paid ipswich £5 million leaving Gibson furious.’
As I recall, we turned down £5m from Derby and Waghorn was an unused sub in friendlies before we gave in and accepted £5m. No recollection of Boro at all.

Phil - Question re Squad limits & Article on Sheff Wed player
at 17:32 17 May 2021

Phil - in the article regarding link to the Sheff Wednesday player, you mention a squad limit of 22 outfield players. I thought the EFL had restricted it to just 20 including keepers? I know the PFA said they’re unhappy but has it changed to 22 outfield players?

No, but I’ve purchased it! Looks good. The author isn’t a Town fan as I understand but he’s chosen well re the front cover Etc! Inside front cover is a 2 page pic of Cooper, Gates n Muhren with the trophy. Back cover is a pic of Mills n Schumacher Of Cologne exchanging pennants before the semi final. And there’s a pic of muhren and thijssen in amongst the pics within the book too.
