Think we'll win the day/nighter. A lot depends on how many wickets we can get before the seam disappears. Need to get Warner early as he could take it away from us. So much reliance on Cook/Root. Just need one or two of the others to step up.

Heart says 3-2 England. Head says 4-1 Australia.

I wonder if there's anything more nerve wracking in the world of sport than having to open the batting on the first morning of the first test of an Ashes against two dudes pinging it around your ears at 95 mph!
Lets see a Harmy ball please.

Starc and Hazelwood are just warming up at 88mph - I wonder why we can't produce generally fast bowlers.

Oh dear.

My first over-by-over report of the ashes comes early in the first session as the Aussies land the first blow at the Gabba in just the 3rd over. Mitchell Starc gets one to shape away with a scrambled seem and gets Cook caught behind. A smart but simple catch by the Aussie captain Smith down to his right. Cook out for 2.

4/1

Conditions really, you don't need to bowl quicker than 80 mph on the majority of English wickets, stick on the spot and let the Dukes seam do the work. Best bowlers in CC in the last few years, Rushworth, Onions, Porter, Masters, Darren bloody Stevens etc etc.
Those guys would get stuffed on Aussie wickets with the Kookaburra ball.

Wasn't the catch by Handscomb?

Stoneman looks fluent but someone on here said earlier that he'll look good for 20 odd and then get out - let's hope not.

Did you enjoy the game tonight Rommy?

Talk about commentator's bloody curse! I've had to keep yelling at radio "you didn't say that you stupid commentator!" (re their rash comments such as "going along nicely" - doh!). Trying to keep up the curse negation is gonna be hard work ...

Vince's response to Hazelwood's throw at him was brilliant - two boundaries with classic drives. That's the way to do it!

I thought we were the better team for sure. Silly goal to concede at the death though. A mood killer.
