He is not exactly being up front though is he ? How much would it cost currently to buy one of the best strikers in the league from a rival ? £15/20m ? Johnson £1.1m, Holland 750k, Jim, a Dutch international on loan.

Okay, in ‘todays’ money how much did he get for Dyer? If Stewart equates to 20m then Dyer must be 60m? Burley spent money he made on developing youth or improving shrewd recruitments. I get this Joe, but in all honesty is there a club where it isn’t the case? I’m not sure how long it’s been this way, but the attention at every club seems to be on the manager. I think we only noticed it when we became ‘Roy Keane’s Ipswich’, but we were just playing catch up. |  |

I don't think so - the only 2 times manager seems to have been bigger than the club have been under Roy Keane and Mick McCarthy in my lifetime.
May be wrong, but feels as though any coverage we get nationally is only through the prism of what McCarthy is doing here rather than the young internationals we are producing etc. | |

I don't disagree, but that may be because the manager has managed in a style where he stays the story. That's not aimed as a criticism at Mick but he has done exceptionally well in recruiting and keeping plates spinning on a small budget - but the approach is more about him than the club.
