This is quite an interesting summary of a recent study as well:

It's not about meat, I think most accept we should cut down on our meat consumption - it's about scalability of organic farming.

“You may not feel outstandingly robust, but if you are an average-sized adult you will contain within your modest frame no less than 7 X 10^18 joules of potential energy—enough to explode with the force of thirty very large hydrogen bombs, assuming you knew how to liberate it and really wished to make a point."

Aye, one of the key points being soil land lost to animal feed farming to support intensive poultry farming e.g.

Completely agree that people who eat meat all the time need to scale back on that.

Well, yes, and whether vertical farming can become viable in the next few years..

Am viewing TWTD in Table Mode on this browser so apologies if replying to a completely different post to the one I intended.

yes, but the key point is not very often.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

Too many people innit.

We need to get rid of a few billion.

But not nice ones like me.

In the 38 games in which ALB played in goal for us, we averaged 1.53 points per game which, had they been over the course of a single season, would have seen us challenging for the play offs. This at a time when we were otherwise struggling against relegation. Oh, and didn't Mick Mills have terrific posture.

Even if these innovative methods CANNOT be scaled, they must be able to serve a local community.

Maybe we look to more community based projects to provide certain foods.

I do believe that meat is OK if farmed sustainably. We've a great climate for that. I'd say the US needs to step back, but the $ and demand don't stop for anyone.

I love the innovation shown in growing foods. Scalability shouldn't be the ultimate, more smaller scale take-up.
