Should Lambert stay as manager next season if we fail to get promotion? 12:09 - Jan 2 with 1137 views | istanblue | Obviously the new 5 year contract has tilted the balance in favour of him staying whatever happens, but is there a bare minimum that Lambert has to achieve in order to keep his job next season? Would failure to attain promotion be enough to make Lambert's position untenable? What if we lose valiantly in the play-offs? What if we don't even make the top 6? In other words, what is the very minimum that Lambert has to achieve in order for people to be content with him taking us into next season? I have faith in Lambert and desperately want him and the team to do well and will get fully behind them for the rest of the season, but just curious as to what other ITFC fans think.

Evans has at least made his position very clear, Lambert isn't going to get sacked before the Summer. And he is the only one that matters here.

My pressing concern is that he finds a style and direction and starts to build something here with clear direction and progression

You learnt that opening line from me. If we still qualify for the EFL Trophy in 20/21 PL should not be here.

Us being in L1 means we are a bit cheaper to run, too.

Remember Hurst signed for 3 years but there was a clause saying Evans could sack him for less. I would imagine Lambert has had a bit of a pay rise and it is helpful stopping the rumours but I’d be surprised if there wasn’t a similar clause in his contract. [Post edited 2 Jan 2020 12:24]

But to counterbalance that, should we stay down, our income will drop like a rock.
