Lambert not the one for us. 05:10 - Jan 8 with 2436 viewsharlingblue

Lambert a great PR man, perhaps the link with Evans and us punters, but as a Manager, he has much to learn. He has not got the drawing power of MM, has not got the way to blend players at the right time into the team. Our U23 Managers, headed by Bryan Gluug would do a far better job.

You've said, "no-one could disagree with it" using sarcasm as my post was "guess work". The very context of it is that its a prediction, it is guess work. MrTown said no-one could argue with that prediction so your post is either stating the obvious and therefore pointless or yet another post hijack trying to prove someone else incorrect, something you continually do. Boring.

What are you blabbering on about?

My post was in response to MrTown saying no one could disagree with it, because I disagree with your prediction. It wasn’t that hard to follow

You seem to have rather lost it

Well looks like after getting a draw the Lambert love in is back. Bizarre and unfortunately, evidence that the majority of our fanbase now have a level of ambition that matches the owner at best.

Nevermind, I'll just continue clinging onto the hope that football is generally cyclical and we should get our chance to shine at some point. Can guarantee that wont be under Lambert mind.

I don't think that it's a love in - more that there is now an acceptance he isn't going anywhere in the near future.

So rather than hope he either sorts it out or gets replaced by someone, it's now just hope he sorts it out

The Brexit analogy is a bit silly. Giving Lambert a five year deal is certainly ambitious and a real leap of faith to say the least. But what is Evans supposed to do? Forever changing managers to find our own ITFC "special one?" Whilst sacrificing stability?

I will say that Lambert has made an overall positive contribution, but the club was in a mess and in disarray when he arrived, and I believe he and Evans (and others) are trying to sort it out. This takes time of course.

Us supporters have had seventeen years of stagnation followed by a deserved relegation I hate to say this, but maybe Town will have to fall further before things get turned around. Good examples of this are Brighton, Wolves and even Man City to name a few. Then there are teams like Bournemouth. What do they do that we can't emulate?

I'd agree with most of that.... well apart from the Brexit bit - and giving Lambo a big contract being ambitious...it's simply an easy way out for a disinterested owner with a troublesome small bit of his business ....all I'm saying is that Brexit and Lambo are happening - and there is little point in moaning about it - just prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

I'd also agree that as things stand the club could have a bit of falling to do - which is no bad thing. Already the championship aka the 2nd division is seen as a step up rather than something we should be leaving on an upward trajectory.

The problem is in thinking we can do 'a wolves, leicester, brighton, bournemeouth' etc etc.... or even a Sheff U or Leeds. Most of these clubs are in better areas than Ipswich - and have growth potential or something to sell other than players, so have attracted new owners. Town may have to look at Luton and Portsmouth as the only way forward.

If you look at the players sold, going back to Darren Bent...i.e. this century... then our youth players IF they get in the team and get estalished tend to go to big clubs like Sunderland and Charlton. Really good prospects get hoovered off whilst still at school for buttons.

Having said all that Evans can still win the lottery IF Town can get some upward momentum..... or Lambo can make Town sellable. And he clearly thinks there are enough sellable assets on the books to break even or make money in the next five years.

BUT Ipswich is not growing as fast as say Cambridge in East Anglia... so the club may have to get used to being the third biggest club in East Anglia in the not too distant future.
