I've just eaten a vegan sausage roll.

I'm pleased for people that seem to be able to go Vegan and the transition seems pretty smooth.

Not for me though, can't cope with the concept of loads of little vaginas growing inside my stomach

I did see this post and again wondered why no one bats an eyelid when certain posters say stuff that is unarguably taboo and stereotypically discriminative yet I can get a 12 page thread calling me the worst c*nt on earth for asking for someone with a van to do me a favour or saying parents shouldn't take their kids to adult establishments if they can't behave.

But I'm just making it up and playing victim as usual or something.

:S

Also isn't Davidson still alive?

Context Callis and also the image one has in ones mind when it is read, whether it be an attempt at a joke by a buffoon or a serious post of a hypercritical nature.

Edit; I don't see who could argue that kids shouldn't be required to behave in a restaurant - although I will never forget my daughter letting the family name down in Pizza Hut when she was 18 months old.

I dunno man, for the record I'm not judging you. More the fact that if I were to say someone was walking a bit "mincy" I imagine someone would have been quick to jump on that. TWTD has some odd double standards.

What did your daughter do? When I was 2 I loved Ribena but couldn't say "blackcurrant" and instead said the last 2 syllables with one. You can guess how that sounded. Anyway, one day with my Dad in the local shop I saw the Ribena and started shouting "BLACKCURRANT" at the top of my voice, whilst a local USRAF who just so happened to be black was stood 4 feet away. It's my parent's favourite story about me.

Not really. To be fair you rant and rave about people paying taxes and then come on here asking for cash in hand moving services and admit to being a habitual fare dodger on the trains.

It's not the fact that you do these things it's more the fact that it's contradictory to the values you claim to aspire to.

As for the mincing thing, well that's another subject and I suppose context also plays a part inasmuch in that it was obviously a quip which is a bit different to me calling you a mincer for being a vegan.

The problem is you are fundamentally ignoring my reasoning for what I do. I've said here before I feel perfectly justified in what I do and do not support, and no one has to agree.

The moving services thing was literally asking if someone was free and could do me a favour. Like asking for a lift somewhere in return for petrol money over a taxi. It's convenience if anything. I ended up paying for a service anyway, and plenty of people said within that thread it was used as another opportunity to jump down my throat as opposed to there being any real issue.

It was a stretch to claim it's tax avoidance, or to equate that to billionaires and corporations sucking millions of pounds out of the country every year that end up going in someone's pocket rather than back into our public infrastructure. Trains fit into this category - train fares simply go into the pockets of shareholders as opposed to going into the infrastructure for the most part.

I pay my tax (as I believe is anyone's moral obligation for the greater good of the nation IN THEORY IF THE MONEY WAS SPENT BY THE GOVERNMENT CORRECTLY, but that's another discussion), I spend my money and I support businesses/industries I choose to support. "Choice" is the key word here - I don't get the choice in paying extortionate fees for trains, nor do I have any say in how that money is spent, but I also don't have a choice if I need to travel somewhere. I can boycott Starbucks and Boots for their corrupt behaviour, but I can't with trains, therefore actually I am acting well within what my core believes are. Make the trains public and fairly priced (as a certain politician/party wanted to do last year) and my need for action and reasons to oppose such a setup are resolved.

I don't think there's much argument you can put into "context" with essentially equating a homophobic slur with something that has nothing to do with sexuality in a negative way. There is no context there in terms of satire of people who are homophobic or saying something offensive for ironic purposes. Would you call a gay person a mincer? I'd expect (and hope) not, but to say "[SOMEONE] did [SOMETHING] and now they're walking like a mincer" is implying you see something in a negative way and are then equating that to being gay, which isn't really on.

TWTD history and my experiences with it mainly. I've had people jump down my throat for completely fair and inoffensive points but some posters on here, without wanting to use the notion of an "in crowd", seem to get away with saying actual problematic things without anyone batting an eyelid. Casual sexism and homophobia are usually the topic at hand.

Well that is obviously aimed at me (I don't care mind, the day I care about things like that is the day I give up) but you cannot begin to suggest I'm part of an in crowd, you are talking about a man who has man love for Boris here - The Antichrist.

The only way one can be part of any in crowd on TW4TD is to be someone slightly left of Karl Marx, travel everywhere in a magical air powered vehicle and eat leaves**

You clearly have no real Iidea of what Marx wrote or was about, while seming to have some hang up about those who hold progressive views.

Let's hope that when Jim Davidson does finally croak you don't take it too badly.

It’s not aimed directly at you at all, bar this thread being a case in point of course. There is certainly an element of some posters though, many either with an overly laddish or old school background, who do say some incredibly dated things that really aren’t acceptable now. Not to say they’re said maliciously or with that intent, but the fact much of it passes with no comment based on the username to the right to the post is the point I’m making. It’s not isolated to this thread, your post we are now discussing or you as a user in any way.

I think I’ve made my point in a fair, constructive and reasonable manner without jumping on you or just screaming from the pedestal you’ve painted in this post. The great thing about saying stuff that is dated or taboo is anyone can acknowledge it and stop doing such things. I’ve done it myself plenty of times throughout life, in school we’d use THAT’S WELL GAY as an insult or with derogatory intent all the time because we didn’t know any better, but I’ve learned it’s wrong and I feel I can be a more considerate person because of it.

it is not someone, it is a specific person who has spent his adult life spouting vile and abusive comments aimed at those who are not white, male and hetrosexual

that he is still alive to continue spreading his bigoted hate is to me is a shame

that does not mean I wish him dead - merely that I chose to copy his take on things
