Three changes for me

Out : Donacien, Wilson, Skuse
In : Edwards, Garbutt, Judge

Stick with Jackson and Norwood for now - they are on borrowed time though

Poll: If ITFC were to be relegated, would McKenna be poached to manage in the Prem?

Agreed, I'd personally be tempted to throw Dobra in rather than Judge, give someone a chance to prove themselves

Poll: Mick in or out? (not a dig at Mick just want to see the overall opinion on here)

Judge for me needs to start every game. People slated him for being inconsistent but the guy just has the ball pumped over his head all game which results in him coming out of position to find it. If there is one player who always wants the ball and is trying to make something happen it is him. Judge in that line up last night instead of Skuse I believe would have made the world of difference (providing our players play through him rather than over him).

Poll: Paul Lambert moves on, would you be happy if Jim Magilton was given another go?

Not a bad shout, would be a wild card to bring off the bench

That's a very rose tinted view of Judge. He's played most games this season and not done nearly enough. His use of the ball isn't very good and he often slows us down. His legs have gone, he's a shadow of the player he was in his pomp at Brentford.

Earl was already in the team. You seem to be proposing we start with 10 men.

Agree in that he's not the player he was at Brentford but in this formation we have to win games....he is a key component.

I haven't said he is a world beater or the player he was at Brentford. He's had basically no pre season, then found himself out the team, then found himself playing on the left, then eventually got played in the 10 against Accrington and looked so much better than any other player who has played there all season including scoring a goal. Looked one of only goal threats against Oxford away and then had a few games where he didn't look brilliant but also had the ball pumped over his head for 90 minutes.

I agree with a lot of this, but... he's still our most creative midfielder, depressing as that is.

I do find it a little harsh when youngster only get a run off from the bench especially when it ends being when the game is done or we are losing.

With the way we are currently playing I see no harm in throwing him in and see if he brings something different to the squad, because we definitely need it!

Based on what? Seriously. How many assists and goals in over 50 games?

He has had the best performance as a number 10 for us this season when he was utilised properly. The ball was played into his feet, he created chances, he scored a goal and got man of the match in most peoples opinions.

If the ball is being hoofed up to him then no I don't believe he is our best number 10 as he just gets bypassed, but when used how a number 10 should be used he has shown how he can play.

The question is more, when have we played to the strengths of having a number 10 in our formation?

So we've now gone from Judge needing a run of games as a number 10 to him needing a run of games as a proper number 10 where we give him the ball on a plate constantly. When are the excuses going to stop? 50 games and he's managed one league goal and a handful of assists, most from set plays. That's pitiful from a player that has no defensive duties. And the reason you can claim he's looked our best player in the number 10 role is because he's the only player who's been given licence to play that role, and he's not done it anywhere near effectively enough.

It's not making excuses for him, it's called having a different opinion. It's fairly plain and simple to understand, I believe Judge should be playing every game in the number 10 role. If you don't agree so be it, stop letting it bother you so much.

Ipswich Town's most creative midfielder is a bit of a "tallest dwarf contest", but... Judge and Garbutt are basically the only midfielders who even register on most measures:

Assists
Garbutt 3
Judge 3
(All other midfielders 1-2)

Key Passes/90
Garbutt 1.6
Judge 1.5
(All other midfielders 0.4-0.8)

Through Balls completed/90
Judge 0.1
Huws 0.1
(No one else has completed one!)

Crosses completed/90
Garbutt 2.5
Judge 1.1
(All other midfielders 0-0.7)

Big Chances Created
Judge 8
Garbutt 4
Edwards 4
(All other midfielders 0-3)

Shots/90
Judge 1.2
Garbutt 1.0
(Everyone else 0.3 to 0.9)

Not arguing these are great btw (they aren't), and you could argue that Judge has been further up the pitch and that makes it easier, but it is what it is.

*Dozzell's numbers on these measures compare alright, especially considering Lambert bizarrely thinks he's a deep-lying midfielder (no assists, but 1.0 on key passes, 0.8 crosses, 0.3 Through balls, 2 big chances created in 6 starts, 2 sub appearances)
