Ours are all part timers. The starting 11 today was made up of only 8 first team players.

Didn't Al Fayed promise to pay the Fulham women the same rate as the men or did I dream that? I guess it never happened anyway as I don't see them having all the top women players from the world.

Playing Man City Ladies is the equivalent of our under 18 lads taking on Man City 1st team.

To be fair they are producing fantastic English International players. Other clubs will have to catch up on allowing full professional terms so full time training is possible.

Why? Because they played an amateur team three divisions beneath them and recorded the sort of score that would be expected in such a match? [Post edited 16 Feb 2020 16:01]

Fair play to City they did a professional job. The video will be painful to watch but they'll learn a lot about what to do to improve.

Why will anyone have to "catch on" and pay women to be full time footballers if hardly anyone wants to watch them play?

Depends if they want to compete in the female game. The better the standard of football the more people will spectate/sponsor. Something/someone needs to break that cycle and the only practical way is to allow players the opportunity to have football as a full time profession. Not every club will want to engage in female football, but those that do will have to seriously consider how the structure would work. It’s one of the fastest growing sports, in spectator terms, in the world. Would seem a great opportunity to enter the leagues competitively in this developing stage.

There were just over a 1000 there today including 4/500 from town. They benefit from being part of the City machine and facilities. Not a level field.

"Fastest growing"but from a negligible base. There are a limited number of people who want to watch a lot of football & those people already have more than enough opportunities to watch far better football.

Ok, so we just keep it as an amateur sport except a small number of elite teams?

Taking a battering like this teaches you nothing. It's like taking on Novak Djokovic and losing 6 0, 6 0, 6 0 without winning a point. The gulf in class is so great that you end up demoralised and glad when it is over.

They kept going to the end which given their age was admirable. They can be proud of what they've achieved so far. Yes they got well beaten but watching players like Steph Houghton up close will hopefully inspire some of them. It's not like they were stuffed by someone in their division.
