Evans out protests? 09:13 - Feb 24 with 8353 viewsEvansOut

I don't know if anyone still has faith in Evans after Saturday. It's easy to turn on Lambert but the money hasn't been there for him which obviously makes him look bad. Since Evans took over, things have only gone backwards, we went from talking about the Premier League, to now talking about playing League One football for a second season and things look like they could get worse. Personally, the most frustrating thing is that he gave Hurst a license to sell all of our best players and then spend money on absolute twod, whereas McCarthy didn't have a penny to spend and still managed to keep us competitive in the Championship, where would we be if McCarthy had cash? His signings weren't brilliant, but he had an eye for a bargain (Waghorn, Webster, McGoldrick). Apart from Wolf and Flynn, cannot think of one positive for this season, and it looks likely that we will lose them in the summer... Time to start serious protests for Evans to go. Will turn sour, but the only way the fans can have a say in the outcome of our once great football club.

The way I see it is this

Evans is a committed owner, h just doesn't have enough money to fund us at a level that the fans want/expect.

Many fans (myself included) see Ipswich as somewhere between 15th and 30th of the football pyramid - i.e. a lower end top tier club, or higher end second tier club as that is where we have been from basically 1960 until last season.

However, for one reason or another, we are now at a stage where finance is the biggest dictator of things, and our position has effectively dropped to be between 35th and 50th - i.e. bottom end of 2nd tier and top end of 3rd tier.

Only good (or bad) management will see us move out of these positions, long term good management could see us rise again, long term bad management is unlikely to see us fall much further due to factors like having an owner committed to paying the bills, and size of fanbase which will bring in income to allow us to stay a big club at this level

There is a lot of talk of Port vale, or Portsmouth, or Blackpool - but these clubs were absolute basket cases and it is offensive to their fans to compare us to them. They have had to go through proper sh*t and proper turmoil were the future of the club is in jeopardy for months and years on end as opposed to just not being as good as the fans want them to be.

Evans makes bad decisions, he's made another bad decision with the extension of Lambert's contract in my view. but he is funding this club as a top end League 1 club this season, we still spend millions a year on the academy, we are beginning to right his previous wrongs with the community trust - but none of this is getting any credit because the first team are struggling. The first team that are well resourced enough to compete at the top end of this league.

We are very unlikely to find another owner willing to put in what Evans does, and being a better decision maker - any new owner would likely be a chancer. That's not to say I wouldn't support a change in ownership, and if Godolphin want to strengthen their Suffolk sporting portfolio I'm all for it - but Evans being more educated and taking advice and surronding himself with better people is really preferable than an unknown owner - be careful what you wish for.

Also, take a proper look at the strife some clubs are going through before comparing us to them - we've just been relegated from the second tier and are struggling to bounce straight back - the club isn't going under

If you are as upset as you say you are facing the awful probability that Town might only go up in the play offs - or perish the thought, stay where they clearly belong perhaps you ought to do what thousands of others have already done and NOT buy a season ticket for next season?

Just to remind you of as far back as last season... there was a huge upsurge in hope and interest after years of stagnation in division 2 under a 'bright young manager'.

I seem to remember Lambert also being greeted with open arms - and a pretty decent demand for season tickets for this season. None of this suggests great hatred for the evil Marcus Evans..... more an over-expectant, arrogant fanbase thinking Town deserve to be higher than they are. The current sound of toys being thrown out of prams also suggests the support is a massive part of the problem.

Evans has clearly gone for stability and a belief in Lambert. It IS his club - and he may even be right. If you're not happy to wait for a bit of success then maybe football is not for you.... certainly at a club like Ipswich who are now a backwater club.

Community stuff isn’t getting credit because it’s effectively a last throw of the dice after years of being cut back and ignored. Regardless, no-one ever looks back at a season or period of seasons and says, “God, do you remember all those community initiatives the club did while getting relegated/blowing automatic promotion/blowing the play-offs? Absolute scenes down at the hospice! Memories that’ll stay with you a lifetime!”

They’re conning us. Will people still be peddling support for Evans if we’re still limping along like this in 2 years time? In fact, that’s an even more pertinent question. If Lambert gets his 5 years, operating under Lee O’Neill and Evans what progress to people expect/want to see made?

Thing is Evans has money. Lots of it. But he runs this club on a shoe string. Why own a club and show no interest in it l just cant make out. He has had offers, has said so himself, so why not sell? Even if it was for a pound, he wouldn't be losing any more money. Whats the benefit of him staying?

How are they 'conning' us? We have a budget in place for the first team that should see us right up there - what more can the owner do if he isn't going to change manager
