Should we remove nazi flags from history programmes? I would say no.
Would a nazi flag be appropriate on ant and dec? I would say no, it's light entertainment, freddie starr fans may disagree with me.

No, because that's plainly appropriate given the context of the show.

We're getting somewhere now, you've gone from silly insults to only now disagreeing on the context of a show, with a sitcom with a nazi flag depiction being ok and a light entertainment show with a rising sun depiction not.
My view is that if the traditional Japanese karate headband has never featured the one portrayed then fine that is a mistake, but if it is an accurate depiction, i don't see why it should be censored. |  |

They were specifically ignorant when it came to knowledge of Japanese symbolism.
They were not generally ignorant.
I don't think the majority of people under 40 would have recognised what that symbol stood for.

They decided, on reflection, it was inappropriate and issued an apology to those who may have found it distasteful. Not a lot wrong with that nor is it much of an issue. |
