And so does O’Brien who might be starting to feel a little duped ...
The lack of mainstream coverage or comment on this and other stuff like the ruling against the JC for making up allegations of bullying against Louise Ellman (who also did nothing to correct this as far as I can see) suggest we have a media that is entirely compromised as a seeker of truth and balance. They are an intrinsic part of the problem in UK politics.

I completely share your views about religion and I'm not defending the backwards elements of the Muslim community (I have previously commented on here about the unfairness of women having to wear burkas when their husbands are in jeans and t-shirts, which I see regularly in Tower Hamlets).
I was just pointing out that Islam is not the only growing religion with backwards views, which is what I got the impression Joe was suggesting.
Appreciate that, I also have stated on here many times that it disgusts me and that I don't believe the Muslim women who say that want to wear that garb really do - and if they do say that it is because they are frightened and or brainwashed.
I've known Joe for a while and he certainly doesn't have a racist bone in his body.

It's nothing to do with the echo chamber. It's the evidence. And you really don't think that the list of evidence he presents is worth investigating?
It's a pretty hefty and solid case just by going on Phillips' own documented words. And it's not as if he hasn't been called out on a lot of this stuff before.
There's a nice line about rural Norfolk in here too!
Thanks for that second Oborne article, always good to read him even when I do not agree with him. In this instance I do not think it is up with the one in your OP as Oborne seems to have a bee in his bonnet about an Imaginary membership that Phillips has to a club called the liberal metropolitan elite. To that end is it Oborne who introduces assumptions about rural Norfolk? I didn't see the TV programme so have no idea if Phillips mentions Norfolk but it does seem that Oborne makes as broad assumptions as Phillips allegedly does in the programme.

I think Oborne is trying to attack the idea of treating Muslims as different when A) they're not all reactionary and socially conservative and B) those same extreme pockets exist in other cultures and religions too.
There's no doubt that many Muslims are backward in their thinking and prejudices. But that doesn't make Muslims a special case as a whole. Rather that it shows that they are like everyone else.

As a literal and figurative lover of the ladies you'll enjoy Disobedience, which is a great and sensitive film about conformity and identity where even the more patriarchal representatives are sympathetically treated.
And the two leading ladies are stone-cold foxes ...

Why?
for a sense of fairness . we had weeks of posters finding antisemitism in the labour party soon as islamophobia in the tory party is mentioned you are sick of this sh1t
forensic experts say footers and spruces fingerprints were not found at the scene after the weekends rows

My comments weren't anything to do with Tories or Labour - neither of whom I have voted for for years and years - and years
My post was directed at all posts and posters who get a raging hard on when they find something that they can knock the UK with for being a racist country - which it isn't.
I would love someone to one day post something positive of how liberal the UK is compared to many, if not most other countries in the world.
But that's not cool is it.

You are right compared to most countries in the world. But I think any minority would tell you there's still a lot of room for improvement.
Especially with our mainstream politics and media that certainly isn't that liberal and tolerant. Some of it is racist and becoming more and more normalised - and that is a huge issue.

It is good that he publishes stuff like this but someone also needs to do some investigations into the alleged antisemitic activities involving leading tories and their advisors. Mainstream media majored on reporting antisemetism in labour from the time a G.E. became inevitable but as stories emerge it seems it is much worse in the tory party IF these aare factual.
