Hi,
I'm the researcher for a play being developed for the New Wolsey Theatre about the ITFC 1981 UEFA Cup win. It's the follow up to Our Blue Heaven about the 1978 FA Cup win that some of you may remember.
I'm currently after write ups of these following two matches with as much detail in them as possible:
Ipswich v Manchester City 25th April 1981 (the league game, not the FA Cup match on the 11th April)
Middlesborough v Ipswich 2nd May 1981
Any footage, or written details of goals scored would be really helpful.
Normally I would just go down the record office and find it in an old copy of the Evening Star but they are currently closed.
Any help would be very gratefully received!

Actually I did not go to Middlesbro and I do not remember anything specific about the Man City game except it was one of the few that we won at the back end of the league season.

Yes, you can often do this for free in record offices and libraries but in the current situation public buildings like that are closed and do not wish to take out a subscription unless absolutely necessary so am attacking the problem from multiple angles and hoping one of them works. It will be a very long play if you are delving into minutiae like that, surely?
Or are you doing a play about a blown FA Cup and tossed away league win, rather than a UEFA Cup win. | |
