Absolutely spot on.

Please note: prior to hitting the post button, I've double checked for anything that could be construed as "Anti Semitic" and to the best of my knowledge it isn't. Anything deemed to be of a Xenophobic nature is therefore purely accidental or down to your own misconstruing.

Sh1tty news that will be repeated far and wide :-(

Yep, a very poignant final paragraph from a country that's been hit really hard.

It's hard to know what Italy can do now. They were already moving away from the EU and opinion will likely hardened even more now given there is no way the EU are going to spread the Italian debt across all member states.

They might decide to leave, devalue and maybe even default because they might not even be able to cover the debt payments as it stands.

... and thought provoking.

Whilst I understand the clamour to return to normal and to save the economy, I am pleased the UK government is remaining cautious on stopping the lock down early.

Also we need to heal the damage done to families and key workers who have been pushed to the limit by CV.

Contrast that with the muppet in chief:

"Once we OPEN UP OUR GREAT COUNTRY, and it will be sooner rather than later, the horror of the Invisible Enemy, except for those that sadly lost a family member or friend, must be quickly forgotten. Our Economy will BOOM, perhaps like never before!!!"

It’s odd that a member of the EU has received help from China, Cuba and Russia but presumably not from the EU or it’s other members.

Moscow has capitalised on the initiative for its public relations, adding a message "from Russia with love" to the plane of equipment. Russian state television broadcast footage of an Italian man replacing an EU flag with a Russian one.

Asked whether Russia's aid to Italy had conditions attached, possibly including the Italian government supporting lifting EU sanctions on Moscow, Mr Conte hit back.

"The mere insinuation offends me deeply", he said. "It's an offence to the Italian government… and also to Vladimir Putin, who would never dream of using this as leverage."

Bit naive to think that China and Russia aren't doing that for their own purposes.

Destabilisation of the EU has been Russia's goal for a decade or more now.

There are two aspects of the EU help, the financial help and that's too slow for many countries. The finance ministers had a meeting approx. 2 weeks ago and all that came out of that was we'll meet again in 2 weeks.
Then there is the equipment PPE, ventilators etc and the problem is there is a world shortage of it because so many Countries need it and there isn't a magic wand the EU are struggling as much as everybody in getting the stuff. You are correct if you look at it from the point of view Italy and Spain were desperate for ventilators why didn't Germany which apparently has lots of spare capacity give them some.

One of Wales' top (if not the top) heart surgeon died in the last couple of days. Sad and with huge knock on effects to the quality of service from now on. God knows what stet the NHS will be in when this is all over. The effect on moral is going to be massive.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?
