to some extent , yes. You will need to fulfil certain criteria before you allowed anywhere. They already have that and had it before this in china. it's been coming for a while

Lunacy to expect any lockdown restrictions should be lifted on 10:44 - Apr 9 by Guthrum | We don't really know whether limiting the spread is still viable or not, as there are no reliable statistics for penetration into the wider population. Until we have a large-scale, quick test available (which nobody has, even the best larger nations have not done more than a miniscule proportion of their populations), we won't know. It might be still quite low at this stage. Of the 233k people tested to date - all ill in hospital with serious suspected C-19 symptoms, or health workers in direct contact with them - 73.9% of them have come back negative. Nearly three-quarters of the cohort most likely to have C-19 apparently do not have the disease. The other thing is that 'managing the spread' becomes a euphemism for juggling the death rates, deciding what is an acceptable level of mortality in order to protect the economy and avoid hospitals becoming overwhelmed. |
Of course. But we do that juggling of health outcomes all the time, not just during a pandemic. And I agree entirely that quick and effective testing becomes essential when talking about easing restrictions. I'm taking it as read that we'll need a clearer picture of who is infected and who has been infected on a wider scale. But also individual medical and careworkers because having a "clean interface" between the general population and at risk groups is vital anyway.

First Descartes posited the Cogito Then the Wachowskis made 'The Matrix' Next 5g was developed Then the Illuminati released Covid-19 onto an unsuspecting population Finally I realised how many women fancied that Canoe Reeves and decided to act...

Lunacy to expect any lockdown restrictions should be lifted on 10:20 - Apr 9 by Radlett_blue | If the current lockdown continues indefinitely, it won't just be irreparable damage to the economy, but the country will eventually run out of money. Some form of easing to permit economic activity is essential, but it will be a brave government which does this while the daily death toll remains high, although this is a lagging indicator. The hysterical, sensationalist media, led by the likes of Piers Morgan, doesn't help. |
Agreed. It isn’t just economics which will see restrictions lifted but also psychological reasons - especially for young children. I’m by no means an expect on this but most people need interaction with others especially in their younger developmental years. No amount of Zoom or FaceTime can be a substitute to actual meeting in the flesh. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Lunacy to expect any lockdown restrictions should be lifted on 10:39 - Apr 9 by StokieBlue | Unbelievable post from someone who doesn't seem to know what a fact is. You've been consistently wrong and even offensive with your "facts" on here. You've even put in this post that they said they would review at Easter which is what they are doing. They never said it was likely to be lifted then. You've contradicted your own original post with this one. Honestly, give the trolling a rest. SB |
Be nice now Stokie, this is a difficult time for Internet Edgelords what with even the British Conservative party attempting to put across a semblance of basic human decency.

This is what I fear. It sounds so stupod but I am struggling a bit mentally with the lockdown, and if they have some sort of test for immunity or something we'll never pass until a vaccine is developed. We simply can't get the virus to get immunity from it. My wife is highly vulnerable and has been told she'd only have a 15% chance of beating it. Not a risk I want to take. Just wish everything would go back to normal. [Post edited 9 Apr 2020 14:36]
