The best things about Ipswich in FM20 12:48 - Apr 14 with 2261 viewsDevereuxxx

Seeing as there's naff all else to do, I'm assuming I'm not the only one who has started a new game with Ipswich and cracked through 3 seasons in less than 2 weeks. Just some of my observations from the game:

- Chambers is like a hostage negotiator, there is no issue within the squad he cannot solve. Downes wants a new contract? One conversation with Chambers and he's agreed to a pay cut. Woolfenden wants to leave for a bigger club? Chambers persuades him there is no bigger club than Ipswich. The man could persuade me to give him all the money I have in the world, and I'd do it with a smile on my face.

- Jackson has the oddest stats I've ever seen. His pace means he has about 22 shots a game, but his mental fragility means he just can't stick them away. The poor lamb has no composure. Sometimes he'll accidentally kick one into the corner, when he isn't too busy worrying if he's left the stove on.

- If you play aggressively down the wings, Garbutt will get about 20 assists a season. Would be 30 if Jackson wasn't hoofing it into the Orwell every 5 minutes. Just a shame Vincent-Young can't cross on the other side.

- We have about 17 talented young central midfielders, and that's it in terms of the youth teams. I found you just have to pick 1/2 to favour and then pretty much ditch the rest. Downes and El Mizouni are my 2 picks. Dozzell with a cameo every now and then. Bishop has ended up in Milton Keynes, I'm so sorry Teddy, that's no life for a youngster.

- Dobra will run really fast past 2 players then hit a really bad long shot. That's it. That's his entire game.

Anyone else found anything unique about the Ipswich Squad on FM20?

Lambert got sacked and Stephen Henchoz (I think) took over. His job was soon at risk and I tried to take his job but the board backed him. I was livid.

Truly impaired.

I’ve got KVY and Garbutt tearing it up on both wings. Downes looks like he’s off to the PL for 14 million. Can’t get any continuity out of El Miz and Dobra is hit and miss. I offloaded Jackson for all the reasons above.

As much as FM 2020 is decent, I’m disappointed in the minimal upgrades. Can’t believe they haven’t got stadium models they could use for individual grounds.

If you stick with Dozzell, Downes and Huws they all end up Premier League quality midfielders. It's currently 2024-25 in my game and we're in the Champions League with Dozzell and Downes in midfield, KVY right-back and Woolfenden centre half...

Haven't played FM in some years, still sulking after taking Chelmsford - Chelmsford!!!! - to runners up spot in the Prem, three consecutive FA Cup wins, a Europa League triumph and a Champions League final and then getting sacked after losing two games on the spin.

Ungrateful swines. There should be a statue of me on the Army & Navy roundabout.

Finished my first season last night. Didn't manage to break the 100 point barrier, only got 98. Start if the year was ridiculous. Won 18 and drew 2 of the first 20 league games. First defeat in any competition was 4th round league cup vs Liverpool, and that was 2-1 with Liverpool nicking an 87th minute winner.

2nd half of the season wasn't as strong, but unlike Lambert I had enough of a lead to rotate the squad. Peterborough pushed hard and got 93 points in the end, but I always had enough points in the bag. Picked up the leasing.com cup too beating Bolton in the final. Ending up with 8 players in the team of the year.

Didn't sign anyone, the team was just far too good for the league. Especially Woolfenden, Garbutt and Downes.
