Update on KJ... 00:05 - May 12 with 5241 viewshoppy

And this is the update I've been hoping to be able to give so much, is that Kelly’s home!

We've been and picked her up this evening, so she can continue her recovery at home, as the ct scan that she had this evening was clear, so the injections she'd had to get rid of the blood clots on her lungs had done the trick and am so pleased to say she's out of the woods!

I'm so thankful to the consultant for noticing something not right yesterday when checking her calves, which alerted him to get her to have the chest X-ray and the clots were spotted and dealt with, otherwise it could've been very serious.

Obviously it's going to take a while til full recovery, but she’s just pleased to be able to do so back at home, so she doesn’t pick anything else up being in hospital, and we're obviously delighted to have her home and continue to isolate ourselves to make sure the risk of her being in possible contact with the virus again is minimised.

Thank you again to everyone for the messages of care and support, as they have been a great comfort, and am sure will continue to be as she steps further towards full recovery.

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.

Haha, if I wanted to do that, I'd just say something like "100% agree" in the news comments, and they'd flood in.

Cheers. Such a relief to have her home.

So nice to read some good news for a change. Been so much sad news in recent weeks any good news is a blessing.

We had to have the family pet put to sleep last night and the children are devastated as they loved their pet pug to bits. She would of been 3 today. She caught viral meningitis. I mowed the lawn on Wednesday and she was chasing around the garden just fine. But just a couple of days later and she couldn't stand on her legs at all. Was horrible to see her go downhill so fast. Ended up taking her to a specialist vets in Newmarket - not cheap! They initially said she had a 50:50 chance but I spoke to the lady in charge of the ICU last night and they said there was no hope for her. Luckily I have a generous pet-loving relative (as I lost all my work due to Covid-19 as I'm self-employed) that has kindly lent me the money to pay for the treatment. Will be forever grateful that they came to our aid in our hour of need.

Anyway, sorry to put a downer on a positive thread. I don't want it to be like that. I'm just pleased to hear happy news elsewhere for your family Hoppy. We win some and we lose some!

The big lesson to come out of all this is perhaps this...

Please don't take those nearest and dearest for granted because as the old saying goes, you don't know what you've got until it's gone.

Best wishes to all.

So sorry to hear about your poor dog. That is really sad. We had to have our lovely dog put to sleep as she could not stand up and was in so much pain - that was 14 years ago and it still upsets me to this day. My sincere sympathies to you.

Thanks for your kind words. Dogs really do touch the heart don't they. Sounded like you had a special friend there yourself.
Been a rollercoaster the last few days. Yesterday the vet called early to say she was doing a lot better than the day before and there was even a chance we could pick her up today and treat her from home with steroids. But then sadly as the day progressed she deteriorated rapidly and the infection spread to her heart. And so we were advised it was best for her to be put to sleep. We're all gutted. Here's a picture of Pip when she was a puppy:

This was originally posted on pets4homes.co.uk from the lady selling her. As soon as the children saw that picture online they instantly fell in love with her and crazed me to buy her. And the rest is history. Only a short life not quite making 3 but it was certainly an example of quality over quantity as she brought us a lot of happiness bless her.
Thanks again for the kind words, very thoughtful and generous of you.

Aww what an adorable little dog - just gorgeous. My dog was 14, which is a good age, but still we were not prepared for it. You take care - I try to be as kind as I can on the forum.

Thanks Hoppy, very kind. Sorry to hijack the thread a bit at the end. It wasn't intended. Just sincerely pleased to hear you've had good news for your family.

Thanks Jeera. Seems strange without the Pug in the house. We also have a Labrador and you can tell she's wondering where her little friend has gone :-(
