Scientists or teachers? Suppose they can't really be blaming immigrants any more...

This guy thinks it would have made a fair difference had we locked down a week or two earlier: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52764645

I think when a scientist that is part of SAGE is telling people that the "following the science" line is misleading then people need to take heed of that.

It's going to be a substantial number of deaths too.

My fear and to be blunt, expectation, is that any inquiry is delayed and the findings simply dont make it out in a timely manner. Look at how the Grenfell enquiry has failed to report on the causes leading up to the fire.

There are so many issues around the CV response from our polcy makers, their decisions, their implementation, the science...going to a lot of long grass cultivated imho.

It’s almost as if this was ENTIRELY predictable weeks ago.

Quiet on here these days.

Callis, said to you a few times, people go on their own journeys.

When the govt is telling you all is ok, sporting events are cool, we even had the PM telling us he was happy shaking hands, it is natural for people to believe those in power.

Add in the fact that some people voted for the current shower, then it becomes very uncomfortbale to accept the very people you voted for have royally fcked up. Oh, and it has cost thousands of people their lives.

So yeah, the govt supporters are quiet, but I'd suggest they are slowly working out that the govt is indeed more than a bit sh1t in how they have handled it.

The vast majority don’t post on here much because there’s no point. The view you have and that of the majority of those whom post is one of blame the govt for everything, with no balance what so ever. Guthrum offers some balance this morning, and he always comes across as an intelligent person and you lot couldn’t care less. This is not about those who have died for most of you it’s all about politics and sod nothing els. Well in the real world most people believe the govt and the scientists have done an ok job in unbelievably difficult circumstances. Could things have been done better and different decisions made, of course but for you experts to keep rattling on like you are experts is laughable and again thank goodness is not the mood of the wider population.

As an aside how have the Scottish and Welsh administrations being doing with there testing compared to England. I guess as run by left wing administrations they have been far more effective than in England!

That’s the third time you’ve accused people criticising the government of not caring about the dead and the third time you’re bang out of order.

Idiot.

Where that falls down Guthers is when you consider all the UK organisations that shut down before the government locked down.

The London marathon was cancelled, the Scottish FA, even the Queen. We were slow to lockdown and to hide behind the science is a cop out imho. 10 minutes watching skynews pictures of Italian hospitals was enough for most people to grasp the dangers. That and a basic understanding of how viruses spread.

They dithered when all around were taking actions. Including many in the UK.

It really wasn’t enough for most people to grasp the dangers though.

Pubs were still packed, people still went about doing what they wanted.

People are idiots, being governed by people motivated about making themselves and their paymasters richer.
