Talking of US police brutality, has anyone seen the video of the police attending a call to a homeless guy at bus stop? I'm not posting it here as it's extremely disturbing. He's white, by the way, or he was before the police wiped him out. Shocking stuff.

On the one hand you claim to think we need to improve and yet all of your posts seem to have the intention of downplaying the problem. That's not how you improve.

Just providing some balance.

It's certainly possible to acknowledge both the positives and the negatives whilst striving to improve.

In fact, it's vital in any type of growth. What do we do well? What do we do badly?

So why even bother with the comparisons with the US? It seems a way of saying "look, we aren't that bad". That's not a great starting point for improvement.

The light has been shone on the police around the world because of what happened in the US. So it's fair to make a comparison.

Of course, that's in no way saying that we don't have plenty of room for improvement.

Consistently balanced, that's no bad thing.

Why are you looking for positives and balance when we're discussing systemic racism and police brutality? It's a very odd angle.

Always important to look for positives and balance when looking for a solution and improvement.

You will also see that I have acknowledged the need for improvement.

We generally all seem to be on the same page.

Agree to disagree. When you're looking to address problems you need to focus on what's gone wrong, not right, otherwise it just looks like you're making excuses.

Indeed I don't for a second think you're a racist,
It's just a shame that your search for "balance" often makes you appear as an apologist for some pretty reprehensible stuff.

I've been reading the forum for long enough to understand where you're coming from most of the time.

I appreciate that you acknowledge that I'm not a racist. And I'm being sincere there.

And I don't in anyway condone racism in the police form in any of its guises. I just think sometimes people go over the top with generic criticism that sometimes isn't warranted.

Thought it was important to clarify as previous statement was a bit open to interpretation.

Yeah, I understand where you're coming from, truly. I just think most of the over the top generic criticism doesn't require defence, it's easily dismissed mentally or re-contextualised in to something less loaded to highlight any relevance it may hold.

As I say, it just makes you come across repeatedly as an apologist, something that after years of reading your comments and engaging with you I do not believe you really are.

Fair enough, I do take your point. But I still feel the need to stick up for the police force in our country from time to time.
