But this was recommended to me yesterday. It's a thoroughly enjoyable read. You can decide if all the details are true or not.

The central message is clearly spot on though.

You need to read the whole 'thread', as the twitters call it.

I don't think they have to. It seems they have a holiday home and the parents were planning to retire there. (At this point, it's worth me saying I don't care if it's true - it's a very funny story whether true or not).

Beyond this bit it's just a dream:

"New message from the Father. He's asking me to "look after" his son when he's here. This is the second time he's requested this.

It's possible he's asking for the Corleone option."

The boss, lawyer, the mayor. All wondwrful additions.

That bit made me laugh.

It's definitely well-written and I was entertained throughout.

Equally though, I was feeling queasy as I was forced to consider [yet again] how stupid the whole thing has been.

People voting to make life more difficult for everyone, including themselves. Great.

Oh yeah, Darwin Award-esque. The most stupid thing a nation has done to itself in living memory (and probably long beyond).

You're a very wise person FB. It's a strange place. I stumbled onto this thread yesterday. The replies are mind blowing. I don't know whether these are real people, or trolls or bots. If this is a cross section of how people are genuinely thinking in the UK right now, we're f'kd.

Why has 'Marxist' suddenly become the accusation of choice for bellends of a certain persuasion?

I noticed even a usually sensible ex-Tory local councillor using it, which is even more stupid when you consider Tower Hamlets is one of the most right-wing Labour councils around.

I consider it an indicator as to whether someone has the foggiest what they're on about or not.

In my experience people who use the term Marxism or Marxist in a derogatory way have never read Marx and have no real grasp of his ideas.

Its impact is undermined by how irrefutably made up it is.

Still the substance is surely true of thousands of voters who had no idea what they were voting for and have been poisoned by years of lies from our media.
