Can you even begin to imagine her distress having to justify herself to a head shaking / tutting stranger?

Not sure why someone with a medical condition should have to repeatedly show exemption proof to a series of busy bodies who might be better off minding their own fcking business.

Because there's a global pandemic on and people are understandably worried when in shops and have people near them not wearing masks. I don't think there's any harm wearing a lanyard (I've seen them myself) which shows you're not a dick, just someone with an issue that prevents you wearing a mask.

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.

I tried to wear a mask but due to my anxiety and panic and asthma, I just can't. I do have one of the sunflower lanyards and an exemption card for the bus. I find the shops in town have been nothing but kind and understanding to me, now they have been educated what they stand for. I only tend to go to the same few shops anyhow and just once a week, so know most of the staff in them well. I keep my distance from others best I can and constantly use hand gel. Clean all my shopping once home as well.

I have had abuse off one old woman in Superdrug, and I burst into tears and had a panic attack in the shop about 6 weeks back. The staff were nice to me, but once home, I wanted to end it all.

I need to get up that town once a week, or will become a hermit and my mental health is already permanently ruined thanks to this pandemic.

Some people have forgotten to be kind and I find that sad.

Take care Debsy and try not to dwell on the odd unkind comment - they don't know sh1t about you, so can fck off. Above all, be kind to yourself and don't runimate or self-castigate.

Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

I think bodies are entitled to be busy when being near someone not wearing a mask could result in their death.

Christ.

We had people on here yesterday rounding on a poster and calling him a scumbag for not self isolating when travelling from an exempt country.

Busybodies.

I can envisage someone who suffers from anxiety having that triggered further by being forced to wear a badge advertising the fact they’re not well.

Busybodies.

Just give people a wide berth. Or stay at home.

Well by not wearing a mask they are advertising that they are either unwell or that they are selfish

I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt.

It's not always possible to give people a wide berth. And I'm not sure how wearing a lanyard that says you're medically exempt from wearing a mask (but doesn't specifically say what your issue is) would particularly cause anxiety. I think you're more likely to get anxiety from getting grief due to not wearing a mask, so a lanyard makes sense for both parties.

Someone with a lanyard shows to me they are at least a responsible person, and less likely to take risks (and therefore have Covid in the first place).

Sounds like you do need some counselling to me. You shouldn't be crying or getting suicidal thoughts because some ignorant twonk in Superdrug has a pop at you.

I find your posts quite difficult to read to be honest, as it really does sound like you need some help. I'd recommend my CBT therapist but I've no idea if she still practices, or if you'd be able to get to her. I definitely think you should do some research on therapists in your area.

I understand why you and some others may find my postings hard to read, and I really do not comment as much as I may like to, as I am scared of others' reactions so tend just to upvote people.

I do tend to join in on the lighthearted or music stuff posted on here, as I am still passionate about my music, and it's been a Godsend to me all my life, even more so in the last 6 months. I have had a couple of shows go out on Mixcloud via a mate of mine which really cheered me up.

Thanks to all on here who have continued to be caring and kind - I really appreciate it x

So you think they probably have a health issue. The thing you said would given them anxiety if others knew.
