Comedy Movies? 10:15 - Aug 31 with 5439 views | BrixtonBlue | The two genres I love most in entertainment are comedy and sci fi. Whilst I could name you 50 great sci fi movies, with comedy I think I'd struggle to name 5 really great ones. I liked the silliness of the Pythons and Airplane!, Men In Black was amusing, Some Like It Hot was pleasant but not really laugh out loud, The Big Lebowski (which everyone seems to love) I thought was massively overrated. The Alan Partridge movie was good, but not as great as the TV series,' Anchorman was alright, the Austin Powers films were fairly amusing. Spinal Tap, meh, dumb. The various Simon Peg ones are pretty good. I dunno, am I missing something or does comedy just not work was well in a movie format? Any I've missed that are really good? Annie Hall is usually up there in the 'best' lists, not seen that. Maybe I've just been fed too many dumb American teen/comedy movies over the years, but while I can happily binge on funny podcasts or TV series', I tend to be disappointed when I sit down for a comedy movie. Scene with umbrella outside the hotel is funny. National lampoons is pretty good as well. European vacation. [Post edited 31 Aug 2020 23:34]

If you enjoy it then you have two great seasons of the TV spin-off - but definitely watch the movie first and then the TV series after because there are some subtle call-backs to the movie in the TV series that are well done.

Dodgeball has some excellent moments. The gimp mask bondage team is great. If you like sci fi as well then Starship Troopers is an amusing watch. Took me a while to realise it wasn't taking itself seriously.

Ya ya ding dong....agree with you there. I think most of these comments have put paid to the suggestion that there are few great comedy films, I count 50 at least in the TWTD suggestions. I'd be interested to know of 50 gret sci fi films, as for me most of them are boring as hell and I'd struggle to name 5 ...might depend on the definition of sci fi though as I'm think 2001 type sci fi and not Star Wars fantasy type.
