It's very alarming and it seems we have learned nothing. Victoria in Aus shut down with fewer cases per 100,000 that we have now. I think we should bite the bullet and do so to prevent another 40k deaths.

Which would suggest that perhaps there is a strain currently predominating in the UK which is less lethal than what was going around in March and April. Closer to the earlier situation in Germany and Scandinavia than that in Spain, France and Italy.
Ed Conway has been very good at producing graphs that track how the virus has translated into hospitalisations and deaths.
These latest graphs give cause for some optimism if the current pattern continues.

Because we are testing more people so obviously spotting more cases.
Plus its not deadly / dangerous for 99% of the population so more testing = more positive cases.
Perhaps they should put as much effort into cancer testing as it is estimated an additional 50,000 cancer deaths over the next 2 years because of people not presenting till too late or having cancer treatments cancelled.
The sh1t panters are desperate for another lockdown, they see economic collapse as the only route left to stop Brexit.

Just seen on the news that they’re firmly putting the blame on ‘17-21 year olds’. Frankly, that’s massively unfair. It’s not their fault that the pubs were opened and that age group will be out the most. Blaming 17-21 year olds for ‘putting all your grandparents at risk’ is just massively unfair.

Maybe but your comment does highlight the fact that it is an age group prone to acting irresponsibly.

17-21 year olds don't vote Tory. It helps to further the divisions in the country to blame young people too. What's odd is that despite the increase in cases amongst 17-21 year olds they are about to send millions of them all over the country to start or return to uni. That seems like a sensible thing to do in the circumstances.

But in what way is going to the pub irresponsible behaviour when the pubs have been opened and the government are actively encouraging people to help out by going to their local. Totally hypocritical to then blame 17-21 year olds for an outbreak on the back of that.
Not to mention that they’re then sending a huge amount of that age bracket back to university. Again.. it’s hypocritical.

Didn’t see this before I responded to Pinewood. Spot on re the university students.

You've probably noticed by now, Rommers, that we're governed by divisive, dishonest, corrupt charlatans. They will blame anyone and everyone but themselves and those that vote for them. They don't care about you or your uni mates.

It isn’t the fact pubs are open, there are rules in place to be followed. It is not following the rules that is irresponsible. Likewise with Uni the risk factor is the fear of others not following the rules.
