Techy people - phone network comparison 13:47 - Sep 18 with 806 views

I'm going to upgrade my phone and I'm wondering if there are any massive differences between EE (my current network) and Vodafone.

Both apparently have 'good 4g coverage indoors and outdoors' in the areas I spend most time (between Suffolk Coastal and Colchester).

Unless anyone can report any big arguments either way it will mainly come down to price.

Mrs Spock changed from Vodafone to EE about 4 years ago and has never had any problems with them. In fact, she had to take Vodafone to the ombudsman to get her freed from the contract due to the signal strength (none) when we moved.

I've been with 3 for a number of years, and likewise never had a problem with service. Only downside is them not always having latest handsets compared to other providers.

I live near Martlesham and have Vodafone on my work phone. 4G coverage is nonexistent at my home, 3G very flakey and even have issues with standard voice calls. No such issues with other phones in the house that use either EE or whoever Tesco use for their service. Also have major issues with data services at Portman Road. My son with EE never has a problem when accessing the same sites while standing next to me!

Vodafone used to be the kings of network coverage, nowadays it's EE.

So long as you get good coverage where you spend most of your time, I would go with whoever is cheaper. With that said, EE customer service seems a good bit better than Vodafone too. Doesn't matter most of the time, but if you ever need to interact with them, Vodafone are a bit of a chocolate fireguard...

Unless you live in London then I wouldn't touch Vodafone with a bargepole, I have a dual sim phone one is EE and the other is Voda (for work) it's incredible the difference in signal between the two.

3 is also very good in Suffolk.

Haha, it's annoyed me for years that apparently we're all such sensitive flowers nowadays that we're no longer allowed to have problems or be worried - we just have "issues" that are "concerns", doh!

Really helpful thread, thanks all - has been a problem for 2 years now that can only get signal by trekking 50+ yards up hill next to house to get a Vodafone signal (edit - in rural North Yorks) ... Having said that, EE were even worse 2 - 3 years ago ...but looks like a change back to them is now called for.

My first encounter with that newsspeak was a fair few years back, when a relative explained that work in a local authority the staff were told to refer to anything of 'concern;' as an issue

as that avoided any suggestion of responsibility or blame - whilst accepting the reasoning behind that thought I am at a loss to understand why so many use this word, and so lose the wide range of words being replaced, as there is a vast difference between

concerns about an injury
problems with getting tickets
difficulties with starting a car
marital troubles
financial worries

all of which express a different reaction - but are now all referred to as isshhoooos

and as a side note a Daily Mailer was ranting about the world (as per usual) and the Orwellian political correctness, while referring to every problem that it supposedly caused as an ishoooo

if you wanted a cheap reliable network i would 100% recommend GiffGaff same coverage as O2 just alot cheaper.
