What favourite/most poetic descriptions of emotions have you heard/read, perhaps in song lyrics or novels? They all have simple one word labels: anger, joy, love, sadness etc., but none of these do them justice to how they really feel.
What profound phrase have you heard to describe an emotion and you've thought, yep, that nails it?! For example (whatever you think of Morrissey) "Punctured bicycle on a hillside desolate," is a fabulous description of a feeling of failure, or perhaps isolation/loneliness.
Or it's pretentious, sixth form poetry - depending on your POV!
There's plenty of cliched ones, such as "blood boils" to describe anger. Any a bit cleverer/less well know that you like? |  |
