No way Serini was an expensive failure, he was MOM in most games up until Christmas, the rot set in when he was replaced by Marshall, who was a very poor keeper in comparison. Yes I recall he asked for a break in a cup game and GB never forgave him for that. I remember during the warm up one day Serini was just putting the ball past Marshall every time, Malcolm Webster soon put a stop that happening again. |
Sereni was an absolutely brilliant and spectacular shot saver. In every other respect he was a poor keeper.
He could not organise his defence, he was very poor on crosses and his distribution was woeful.
Had his positioning been better a good proportion of his eye-catching saves would not have been necessary. |  | | |
