And that made the whole deal worthwhile. Which other Town player would get his wife to film his performance at reserve matches so that he could assess his mistakes to make him a better player ???

Bit unfair on LePen, he didn't get long enough to demonstrate if he was going to fail or not. Likewise Civelli, he was starting to look like a bit of a player when he got injured.
Le Pen was on the field for all of 12 minutes before he was injured so impossible to make an assessment on that basis. Priskin should definitely be on the list ahead of Chopra (but behind Paul Taylor). I assume Lee Martin is there, along with Stuart Slater.
Indeed. The very unloveable Paul Taylor. Expensive failures 12.
Ulrich was more unfortunate so didn't include him.
Whilst he was in Suffolk Paul Taylor live just around the corner from me here in IP12. We quite often met at our local 'Costcutters' store. He was always polite and was always prepared to stop for a quick chat.

Slater and Martin both in there.
We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub.

Not forgetting good old Leadboots.
And, as before, one for the oldies: Bobby Kellard
Bobby Kellard was an odd one. Before my time, but McGarry signed him from Palace & then sold him to Portsmouth for the same fee 3 months later. I do remember Kellard as a hard nut on the pitch & a supremely unsuccessful player manager for Chelmsford city in 1975-76.

I don't think so - wasn't he a supposed £400k makeweight
My mistake - See later edit

I believe Paz cost £900k which was a large sum for Town at the time. A slightly built though skilful forward who was pushed out to the wing when what Town needed was a powerful striker.

Isn’t it some sort of myth that Le Pen was injured for most of his time here? He revived quite quickly from his injury but just wasn’t good enough to even make the subs bench.
I could well be wrong.

No way Serini was an expensive failure, he was MOM in most games up until Christmas, the rot set in when he was replaced by Marshall, who was a very poor keeper in comparison. Yes I recall he asked for a break in a cup game and GB never forgave him for that. I remember during the warm up one day Serini was just putting the ball past Marshall every time, Malcolm Webster soon put a stop that happening again.
I remember him being expensive but as you say remember him being unreal in the most part.

Fast forward twenty odd years later and it’ll be the coaches telling the players to rest for a FA Cup match as well.
Time can make football look so strange.

That he only played 33 minutes of football for us is what makes him a failure for us.

Le Pen did recover from his broken foot & did come on for another 10 minutes in the FA Cup thrashing by Man city in January. However, he didn't get another game & I guess GB realised he'd bought a pig in a poke. He also got 32 minutes as sub in the 1-0 win at Avenir Beggen the following August & that was it.
